Hey ladies -
First a quick history: My last normal period was July 30th. I stopped my birth control (in the middle of the pack) mid August as DH and I were on our honeymoon and wanted to start trying to conceive. I got sick with e-coli a week after our honeymoon and talked to my doctor about the meds I was given and told them about us trying to conceive. They had me take a pg test - which was negative at the end of August. September 26th, I took 5 at home pg tests and they were all positive. (Most likely conceived on September 7th. - making me approx 4 or 5 weeks pregnant)
I had my first ultra sound today. What she saw on the ultra sound was about 5 weeks. Cutest little bubble I've ever seen.
Because of my chaotic cycle (not having a period since July 30th because I stopped my pill) she had me do blood work to make sure my hcg levels double in the next two days. I go back on Wednesday night to do the same blood work. If the levels increase, that's a good thing. If they stay the same or decrease...that's NOT a good thing.
Now...I'm worried. Why would she have me do blood work if she didn't see anything in the ultra sound to make her nervous?
I did take a at home test this afternoon...and one of the lines was a bit weaker than the last. Does that mean my hcg levels are already decreasing?
Anyone else experience this?
Re: just need to talk...
Color of the line can vary depending on the amount of dye in the test.
They want to check your bloodwork because they want to make sure the levels match up with what they are seeing on the screen. It sounds like everything is right where it should be since you said you are about 5 weeks, so try not to worry.
2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14
I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
Dye is different in all pg tests, so disregard. The nurse at my RE told me to put.down.the.pee.sticks because she knows I'd drive myself insane!
Because your last period hasn't been since July 30, and you stopped the pill, she probably wants to see your numbers to make sure you weren't pregnant then and just measuring way behind. The numbers will help her figure out where you are, using the u/s as a guide. If they double, that's a good thing; it doesn't necessarily matter how high the numbers are, especially if you're as early as you think.
Are you getting another u/s as well?

I wouldn't worry at all!!!
I just got my BFP yesterday, called the doc today. They sent me for blood work today. Wednesday I go back to do the same. They just want to make sure my hcg and progesterone levels look good.
They made me do this for my last pregnancy too with DD. They have me do this before I even make my first appointment.
Thanks for sharing Ethansmommy. We went ahead and did the HCG test -- I didn't know if it was optional. I have my next u/s next Thursday - so I hope we will be able to see more.
Have you had your 2nd u/s yet? If not, when are you scheduled?

this!
I disagree. I would do all tests the doctor suggests (except amnio). If your progesterone levels were low for example, they could give you meds to get them up and keep baby growing- but only if you catch it early.
I disagree with what you are saying most doctors say there is no way to really prevent a loss. I am not able to emotionally go through all the stress of those things. I am trusting in my faith that everything will be fine and in 8 months we will have a healthy baby.
