1st Trimester

I can't remember the last time I took a $^@#

I had forgotten about that lovely side effect, teamed with the iron in the prenatals.

I've been drinking water non-stop but even that's not doing it.  Any advice on high fiber foods or what are you ladies doing?

I know, TMI, but that' what this board is for, right? (or should I go elsewhere?)

  • I've been drinking water like crazy and taking metamucil but nothing helps. I walk around very uncomfortable every day. The metamucil makes me even more bloated and full feeling but not taking it means I don't go at all.
  • i guess Im kind of lucky on this one I have the opposite going on I go like 2 times a day at least. I really dont eat anything diffrent. Im pretty sure with my first it was the same way.

  • I had a big salad with lots of jalepenos in it last night and shortly after dinner was over I had to go to the bathroom, it was the best poo in a long time, I felt light again. Planning to make the same salad for dinner tonight.

  • I bought some double fiber bread - each slice is 6g of fiber, which is a pretty decent amount.  I've been using it for french toast or regular toast or sandwiches - its a nice way to pack in some extra fiber.

I've also bought some dried fruits (including prunes) and almonds, which are also pretty high in fiber and should help things along.

I think baked beans also have a lot of fiber as well.

I hope things get moving for you soon!

  • Ahh, I'll have to get the prunes - those work everytime and I actually like those little buggers.

I had baked beans last night - but with mac & cheese so that was probably counteractive.  Tonight is chili night - something has to light the fuse.

  • Fiber One brownies are SO good! Lots of fruits, apple juice, and prunes. OMG, the prunes. They did wonders for me. And it only took about 2-3 a day.

  • haha all this poo talk is cracking me up, but I am so glad I'm not alone!  And now I have lots of good ideas since obviously water and dried apricots aren't working.

saw you are in austin. I am so jealous. I was born and raised in Austin, but now in the northeast. blerg. and, of course, I am craving some good brisket with burnt ends.

  • I had this issue for THREE WEEKS! I was on the just about to call the Dr. when I decided to try prune juice... VIOLA.. it works! I drink a glass every day now. Nothing else worked for me.

  • My friend recommended a cereal called Cracklin Oat Bran. It has changed my life. Go out and spend the $5 on a tiny box, you will not regret it.

  • Take some probiotics! I get mine from the health food store and make sure they're refrigerated. That or more greens or veggies, but probiotics have worked the best for me.

  • I luckily haven't had this problem -- but I only go once a day now, and it used to be 2-3 times. I drink lots of water and try to have fruits, veggies, and whole grains every day. An occasional cup of coffee also helps.
