Just wondering if anyone registered for any toys and got them?
I very much understand that the registry is just a suggested list of items but I find it an odd coincidence that the only thing not purchased off of our registry was our small amount of toys we registered for.
All of the toys were 0-9 months and either soothing / educational? Do people see these as luxuries / not necessary? I feel kind of dumb registering for them now.
Re: Registering for toys?
I think it's perfectly fine to register for them.

This, exactly. Not all of them for sure, but a few at least. And, my shower is Oct. 20th too.
Funny thing--your friends and family can get you whatever they want for you, not just what you approve for them.
He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be. He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.
I don't think there's anything wrong with registering, especially since it's just a suggested list of things to get.
However, I do think people want to make sure you have everything you NEED before things that are seen as more of "wants" (not that you wouldn't buy it but they want to help you out with getting everything). Yes, I would say developmental toys are important.... but not within the first month or so of life. People may buy those needed items first and then once LO is born spoil him/her with a couple "unnecessary items". Least that's what I noticed when I had LO
Don't forget, that by the time your LO is ready for these toys, Christmas and/or a birthday will probably be just around the corner.
I'd focus on the items that would be unlikely to show up underneath the Christmas tree for a baby shower, and then trust that your immediate family will probably take great joy in shopping for and gifting toys as presents once LO is old enough.
Besides which, you can get a smoking deal on used toys at a children's consignment shop if you don't receive any at the shower.
