So I am out to dinner with my mom and my DS. This waitress comes over to get our order and said welcome back. We had been to this restaurant before, but weren't by any means regulars. So anywho, she said to my mom, "so the little boy is so cute, do you guys just babysit him alot or what? My mom replied "Uh no, he is my grandson and that's my daughter." WTF. I am only 38 , not 60 ya know. I didn't even know how to respond. I asked my mom if I was looking especially old that day or what. I can't believe people sometimes.
Re: Would this have bugged you?
This. I am cranky lately, and that would have pissed me off. A lot.
Yes, that would have bothered me. I would have probably been a little bit rude back.
I am 38 also.
Same here.
And no tip from me either if I heard that.

Yeah, that would have bothered me a lot, but I'm sensitive. When I was still working at the restaurant/bar before T was born a bunch of drunk college kids were being super loud at the bar and I was getting annoyed because I had all these modifications to an order to make sure I got right (you know, one of those I want this, but with this, and none of that but extra this, and every other server gets it wrong so I hope you can get it right types) - I toss look at them without even thinking and the queen bee goes, "oh please, at least we aren't old like you!"
Ughhhhhhhhhhhh
I don't not leave tips unless the service sucks and they know why (mentioned somewhere in the conversation or I've spoken to a manager). Otherwise it's a moot point. They'll just think you were an old meanie.
I'm 37 and live in the South. I get questions quite often that definitely refer to my age. It is super annoying.
Whoops! Sorry I decided to get my MBA, start a successful career, live overseas in two foreign countries and travel the world before popping out a kid! My bad!
