Day 3 monitoring question

Do you all go in for Day 3 monitoring? I'm on day 2 right now and about to make the call to RE to discuss next cycle. They will try to get me to make an appt for tomorrow, day 3. I'm going to tell them I'm not interested since it was a complete waste of time and money last time. Counting antral follicles was no predictor of how many follicles I had day 9. I ovulated early and missed my IUI so what was the point of day 3 monitoring? I'm certainly not pregnant so there's no risk there. What do you think?

June-July cycles 50mg Clomid + Ovidrel + Progesterone: BFN
Aug cycle 7.5mg Letrozole + Ovidrel + Progesterone: BFN
Sept cycle 100mg Clomid + Follistim + Progesterone: BFN
Oct cycle Clomid + Follistim + Ovidrel + IUI: ?????

    I've only had one cycle with monitoring and it was done day 12.

    This is going to be my 6th or 7th cycle with RE. I've only had day 3 monitoring once, last cycle. Otherwise I have one later like day 13. Last month was the first time I was given follistim, so I think that had something to do with it? But, the cycle was just a big cluster and I don't feel like wasting another $250 this cycle on what seems to be an unnecessary monitoring, kwim? Just wondering if anyone else skips it and their office doesn't give them a hard time over it.

    Are you doing a medicated cycle? They need to make sure you don't have any cysts. I've had a couple of cycles canceled due to cysts developed because of medication. They look at astral follicles, but also make sure there are no active cysts that have developed.
    TTC #3 (#1 for DH) since September 2011. DX: Unexplained infertility with possible cervical factor. May 2012 did clomid with IUI - BFN August 2012 IUI #2 w/ follistim/letrozole - BFN September 2012 IUI #3 w/ follistim/letrozole - BFN October 2012 IUI #4 w/ follistim/letrozole - BFN November/December 2012 IVF/ICSI #1 Retrieved 12 eggs, 8 fertilized. Transferred 1 beautiful embryo and 5 made it to freeze. Got my BFP! January 2013 u/s showed empty gestational sac. FET cycle April 2013.  Transferred 2 5 day embryos.  BFP!!!!!  2 heartbeats!!!!  EDD:  12/27/13

    I got out of the appointment. Told them I didn't think it was necessary and they said no problem, just call if you experience pain. I'll go in for a normal monitoring appointment mid cycle. So, if anyone else like me is OOP and watching the costs, this appointment is not always mandatory.
