4 month wakeful ?'s

For those who are going through it or have been through it before, are you actively doing anything or just letting it take its course and pray it ends soon? I keep going back and forth as to whether I should be trying to sleep train or something because DS was such a good sleeper before (lucky I know!) and I'm not sure whether it is something you can actually "fix". I'm not sure that makes sense but just needing advice from the ladies. I guess it doesn't help my mom and MIL and anyone else I talk to says cry it out....just not sure it's what's best for him.

Re: 4 month wakeful ?'s

  • We are going through it right now and we are trying to sleep train.  It's def tough. We are trying to let him CIO gradually--- it is SO HARD!!!  I hate it.  We have only done this for about 3 nights now, and the last 2 nights he has been really congested so I think that is throwing a wrench in the sleep training.

Hopefully this works-- I've been back at work for 3 weeks now and I feel exhausted!!

  • I'm going to let it take its natural course for now. If she is still having issues at 5 months then we Will think about sleep training.

  • My son has been waking up at 4am a couple times a week. When he wakes up it's because he's hungry so I'm not going to let him CIO. I stick him on the boob and he's back to sleeping 15 to 20 min later.

I don't believe in letting them CIO when they are this young, they are crying for a reason, but that's just my opinion.
  • We just let it run its course and I just fed DD whenever she woke up. It went on for a few weeks and seems to have improved a lot recently (I'm not letting myself get excited just yet!). It was tough and frustrating, but since it's so common it must be normal. Just like everything else, it was another phase to get through.

I did plan on sleep training eventually if it didn't resolve within a month or so, but hopefully we won't have to worry about it now.

Hang in there! It won't last forever :)

  • We are just letting it takes its course. He's not awake long, and falls asleep quickly on the boob, it's just the frequency of wakings has gone way up. Last night it was every 2 hours...oy.

We are just letting it take it's course.  DD slept 10 hours from 8-13 weeks.  She's been not consistently sleeping well for a month now.  I'm not sure what's going on.

  • Thanks ladies! Last night was a little better only had to go into his room 4 times and only once did I pick him up! So hoping this will pass soon. Good luck to you all!
