Emmett Christian in only 3.5 hrs!

Emmett was born 8days early and I had him only 3 1/2 hrs after I got to the hospital. He is my second child. With my first I was in labor for about 11hrs. Everyone had told me that the second baby would be a longer labor and a lot harder.

 Well for me it was a lot shorter. I was in total shock after I realized how short it was. That afternoon I had gone to the doc for my weekly check and she had told me I would probably have him over the weekend. I was 2cm and having contractions on and off and I was spotting a bit. So when I found that I really didnt want to go home and just sit. At this point I was ready for it to be over because it was a rough pregnancy compared to my last. So we went to see my boyfriends grandparents and while we were there I started to have contractions every 5minute. But I didnt want to go to the hospital with fear that they would send me home, and the hospital is about 45minutes away. And after about 2hrs of consistent contractions we decided to finally go.

By the time we got to the hospital my contractions were every 2minutes. Once they admitted me I had like no time to pay attention to the clock. I was trying to have a total natural birth. So my nurse got me in the tub as soon as I got in the room, then after being in there for awhile she put me on the medicine ball. She even had me standing and rocking back and forth. Well after what only seemed like a half hr to me, the doc came in and broke my water. And from there everything happened in a blink of an eye. I couldnt stand to be in bed after they broke my water so I got back into the tub. 

After that the pain got so bad I was begging for pain meds, even though I wanted so badly to go without.Because with my first I ended up having two epidurals and they didnt help much at all. Well at that point it was too late. I was told that only about 20minutes after she broke my water I was pushing. And I was only pushinf for about 5minutes. But it seemed like a life time.

What gets me is the doc thought it would take longer for me to deliver so she left the room to check on the lady in the next room. But as soon as she walked out I I pushed the babys head out. Then within a minute he was totally out. I felt so bad though, because I pushed him out so fast and so forceful his face was bruised.

He is almost 4wks old now and growing wonderfully. However, I think next time I will get pain meds.
