Baby nightmares?

A few times now over the past few weeks, DS has screamed in his sleep. Not his usual 'I'm waking up because I'm hungry' cry, but a sharp scream that sounds like he's in pain. We run to the bedroom and see that he's sound asleep. Anyone else's baby do this? 

Do babies even have nightmares? DH and I were talking and trying to figure out what an almost-4 month old would have nightmares about and all we could come up with was being faced with no more milk.

    Hahaha..regarding your reason for the nightmare! I'm laughing because our LO has screamed in his sleep the way you described several times earlier this month. I've posted on it where I asked if LO's cries have changed. DH said the same thing that he was probably having a nightmare about "no more milk".

    Anyway, someone else told me that babies have nightmares about their birth. I don't know if its true....

    My LO has done this. I dont know if it helps in the least, but everybody round these parts knows I will flip out if you dont mute the TV when there is screaming or scary noises

    LO had a week for this was happening once a night... when I looked it up- "night terrors" was what I found.  It is recommended not to pick them up during these night terrors-- but it was just too heartbreaking for us, so we had to pick him up.  He just seemed so scared!!!
