Wow..

Hey all! I haven't been on here in a few months because I traded my iPhone for an HTC and I hate everything about android so I avoid getting on it at all costs. But I am loving the new mobile site! Very nice.

Anyway, my little Monster and I mean that affectionately has picked up this terrible habit of smacking now. I go in for a kiss and get smacked, very hard, in the face with both hands. I've tried the nice hands thing and its been a few weeks, but there hasn't been any progress. Any other suggestions? He's almost 18 months. Thank you :

Re: Wow..

  • Have you tried walking away and ignoring him when he does it? Sometimes it helps to give no reaction at all if the nice touches approach isn't working.

  • I agree with just walking away. When my kids would hit me I would say "no hitting. It hurts." I would then set them down and walk away. As soon as they found out mommy would stop playing they quit it.

  • Ditto PP's. When my little one hits me, she loses my attention for a time, or until she apologizes.

Yup, this.  DS started smacking me several months ago and the "hitting hurts" would only get a pause with a mischievous look and another smack.  Walking away has really helped so far.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

  • Thank you. I'll try just ignoring him. I do this with tantrums when I can and he normally gives up pretty quickly.

  • I also act sad while I walk away, it seems to help.
