I am in Northern NJ. I have not hired a doula because my midwife's assistant is an awesome doula. She lives on Staten Island but works all over and I would be happy to PM you her name if you want.
I am planning a home birth but last time I delivered at Morristown Memorial. The nurse was great and left us alone, there was some hospital procedure stuff I could have done without (like a 45 minute time limit on delivering the placenta. They threatened to knock me out and remove it surgically.) But overall it was a reasonable place to give birth.

I'm in northern NJ too. Delivering at St Barnabas in Livingston with a doula. My OB and doula work out of an office in Montclair. OB is awesome, I love her (I switched to her at 35 weeks b/c I wasn't happy with my prior OBs).
Let me know if you want more details!
