mom's of blue eyed older kids...

When did you know the eyes were staying blue? All my kids have brown eyes like me, but Luke's are unusually blue, not the typical NB grey color. I'm a little giddy at the thought of him having daddy's blue eyes. I know it's still a little early to know, but humor me, will ya?

Re: mom's of blue eyed older kids...

  • It was closer to a year for ds's eyes.

  • I think "they" say they can change color up to 6mths of age but I knew with both of my girls at 2mths. They started changing from dark blue to really light blue. Granted..DH and I both have blue eyes so it would have been unusual if they weren't blue.

  • My nephew's eyes changed around a year. It can take awhile. I wasnt sure DS's eyes were going to stay blue until 6mo.

  • I was wondering the same thing today. I love Connors deep blue eyes so I hope they stay this way.

  • Well, that helped haha.
I think I'm just wishful thinking here, kind of like I'm trying to convince myself his dark hair won't fall out come back blonde.
  • I'm super curious about the eye-color thing, too. Mineare a very bright green, and DH's are a kind of golden-brown color with a dark blue outer ring. DD came home with eyes so dark, they were nearly black. They've since lightened up, and now they're kind of a greenish-brown, with a dark blue outer ring. Mom said I was born with dark blue eyes, but the green flecks started within a couple of weeks, and by the time I hit 6 months, they were completely green.
  • DD1 had blue eyes until about 12-18 months. She now has green eyes. Still light though, not brown.

DS has blue eyes and always has.

DD2 has blue eyes now and I'm hoping they'll stay blue, I love love love them!

ETA: DH has blue eyes and I have brown. I thought all my kids would have brown eyes since brown is dominant, but I guess not! I don't mind at all.

  • Mine had lighter blue eyes since birth.  At almost 4, they are still blue.  My newest baby has dark grey/blue eyes so I am sure he will be brown-eyed like me and my husband.
  • DS1 had blue eyes and I knew they would stay blue from the first day. They are the exact same shade as mine, my mom's, and my grandmother's eyes. DS2 has the typical newborn colored eyes and they are already looking more hazel.

  • I knew by 3 months with both kiddos that they were going to have blue eyes.  They just kept getting lighter.  My DD has the lightest sky blue eyes ever, while DS1 are a little darker blue (but still very very blue.)

DS2 has blue eyes now, so we'll see if they get lighter or not!

And FTR?  Both DH and I have brown eyes.  Craziness.

I was hoping you would see this. : Your babies have some serious blue eyes. I can't get over just how perfect Reid is.
  • DS is going on 22 months & his eyes are still blue! Which is a mystery to us since no one in our families has blue eyes that we are aware of, lol, but someone at some point must've had them!

Actually, it would be impossible. If both of you have blue eyes, there is not really a possibility for LO to get another color.

  • DD has bright blue eyes. Around 2 to 3m of adjusted age they turned from the NB slate blue to a light blue, and then stayed that color.
FTR: I have brown, Dh has stop you in your tracks blue.

  • DD's eyes were blue/gray until about 15 months and they are now green.

DS has dark blue eyes... but he is only 2 weeks so anything is possible. I have brown eyes and my husbands are blue.

  • Holdyn's eyes didn't turn green till about 11 months
