Anyone experienced UTI during their 1st trimester?

    not yet but i fully expect to.  I get them so often I take regular antibiotics and see a urologist several times a year.  Not looking forward to it!

    I am in the 1st trimester with my first baby, and am just starting to develop a UTI. Was also wondering if that is normal, and is it dangerous to the baby? Can I take something for it?

    I have a chronic history of UTI's. In the past 8 months I have had 5 UTI's that have required IV antibiotic treatments with PICC lines. I am now considered high risk and see a specialist because of this. Their major concern for me is that during the 2nd and 3rd trimester UTI's can cause premature labor. I am currently taking Macrobid, an antibiotic that is used to treat UTI's and is very safe during pregnancy. I will be taking it my whole pregnancy to try and keep them away. They are very common but catching them early on, when the symptoms first appear is usually the best key. Good luck to you!

    Don't let it go. Uti are very treatable our can be very dangerous if left untreated. Call your Dr. And they will probably do a culture and give you antibiotics, no biggie. If you let it go it can develop into a kidney infection and get more serious.

    Hi!

    When pregnant with DS, I experienced UTIs during the 1st and the 2nd trimester. I was prescribed with antibiotics that were safe during pregnancy, and I took them for 6 straight month. My doctor made me do cultures every month right until my baby was born. So, what I'm saying is that they are treatable, and if you suspect one, always call your Dr.
