Little stinker bit my nipple! In case this happens again, are there any ways to keep it from happening? Such as, do i tell him no and make a big deal of it, or do i pretend it didn't happen?
I'm going through teething hell... Got bit twice today. There are several ways to deal with it. One is to unlatch with your finger and say no bite! Very sternly. My LO did not like that and got really upset. What I do now is just push her face into my breast so she can't breathe. She'd rather breathe than bite and let's go. She'll learn over time that biting isn't fun. I did it once today and she's been good since. Usually they bite at the end when no longer hungry so you could pay attention to when LO is done and use your finger to unlatch.

With my DS biting was a symptom of teething. Like the pp I would bring him into my breast and he would release his bite. I would then say firmly no biting and not allow him to nurse for 30 seconds to a minute. This helped because he still wanted to nurse.
Some babies will bite at the end of the session and the best way to prevent that is watching them closely while nursing and unlatching them when they are no longer actively eating. Also try to avoid screaming or yelling when bit. Some babies will think it's funny while others may become scared and the go on a nursing strike.
