Infertility

What the heck is going on?

I had a monitoring appt last Friday 9/21. I had 4 mature follicles and 3 smaller ones (between 10-16). I triggered with hcg Saturday 9/22 and did IUI Monday 9/24. My RE said there was a small chance I could O before trigger but it had to happen the way it did due to a trip out of town.

On Tuesday I sliced through my hand and needed surgery. They did a pregnancy test at the hospital (urine) that came up negative. They were all surprised it was negative - especially me. In prior cycles I tested out the hcg in 3-5 days. I just took a home test today (9/29) and it was positive. Could this actually be a positive? I'd like to think so but that seems impossible. It has to be left over from trigger or somehow a mistake, right?

Re: What the heck is going on?

  • So, 4 days after your trigger it was negative? How much hcg was it? That is odd isn't it? It sure sounds like maybe it was not a lot of hcg and it cleared your system quick..and now your pregnant... That would be cool! Let us know how it ends up, GL!

  • It was 10,000 IU of hcg. I sure hope so! I'm going to wait until Monday to test again then call my RE if it's still positive. I still feel like it isn't real.
  • good luck!  I hope it is a postive - that would be awesome!

  • I would be VERY surprised if 10,000iu was out of your system in 3 days. I wouldn't be surprised if the hospital made a mistake. Your +HPT today could be a positive but there's a good chance that the trigger could still be in you as well. Mine always stays in me for 12 days (which is a lot, I know,) although they say the average is 1,000/day. Here's hoping it is a true positive!!!
    I suck at getting pregnant
