PSA: Facebook posting PMs to your wall

Have you heard about this? That's from a blog, here's the story from the Huffington Post, though they've updated saying the claim is false.

Apparently, there's some crazy glitch on Facebook and private messages from 2010 (one person even said 2011) and prior are being posted publicly on some people's timelines.  Facebook, Snopes, NBC and many others have said that this isn't true, and it's just old wall posts from when FB was a lot smaller and people shared more.  Though if you look at the comments on the blogpost above, it is true for a lot of people.  Addresses and super personal messages between spouses are on there that people would never ever put out there for all to see.  It's not true for me, hopefully not for you either, but it wouldn't hurt to check!

The blog will tell you how to hide it from your timeline if it is indeed true for you.

    Yes...I am pretty sure it is true for me, although I don't know if maybe just I could see them before my wall went public and they wouldn't have shown to others.   I had to delete and change a lot of stuff (including my own wedding date...WTF FB) that got messed up in the new timeline.

    I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

    I had to fix mine a few days ago when I heard about this, and cautioned DH to check his out.

    Totally random but Timshel your sn isn't from the Mumford & Sons song is it?

    No, I didn't know there was a song! I just looked it up though and it's beautiful! I like them, but don't have any of their music.  


    Timshel is a hebrew word for "Thou mayest" and I got it from the book "East of Eden."  In the book he's referring to a passage from the bible in Genesis about God talking to Cain that he has the choice to live a life of sin or one of redemption, basically.

    It was true for me I had to go year by year and "hide" them.

    BFP 5/21/10, Missed m/c 7/5/10 at 11w3d (baby measured 7wks), D&C 7/7/10

    Aug/Sept 2010 - CD3&10 b/w & u/s, genetic testing, SA, HSG, & Lap/Hyst to remove septum

    12/09/10 BFP -- 7/05/11 DS born at 33w5d. Came home after 23d in NICU at 37w0d

    June 2012 - TTC #2! -- 10/05/12 BFP --  5/23/13 DS2 born at 37w1d! Yay full term!

    Surprise BFP 6/25/14 LO#3 due Feb2015!

    The good thing is that if this happened to you, most likely people are more concerned with their own walls and aren't searching yours for PMs.
