Hi everyone -
So I posted here a couple of weeks ago about my 3rd loss (https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/68797341.aspx).
We believed it was a blighted ovum, based on my u/s at 7 weeks which showed an empty sac. I was pretty adamant about my dates. Blood tests confirmed that while my levels were going up, they weren't doubling (30k to 36k) and thus the nurse told me she was sorry, but it was not a viable pregnancy. She said I might start to bleed on my own, based on my last two experiences, but to make an appointment with my doctor for the following week just in case.
So, since I had not started bleeding, we went in yesterday prepared to have "the talk" about what to do next (with my last 2 losses I miscarried on my own). I had also done my research on RPL testing and was prepared to discuss it (oh yeah, and to ask for an antidepressant!). The doctor wanted to take a quick ultrasound and so I readied myself to once again see a big, empty sac.
And then, to my surprise, the doctor said "there's a heartbeat!" My husband and I were in disbelief. (Best.surprise.ever.) She measured me at 6.5 weeks and changed my due date to 5/19! I can't quite wrap my head around the dates (I must have ovulated quite late and DH's sperm must have lived awhile too, according to my memory), but I am going to accept it as a little miracle and be happy (thrilled, actually ![]()
I was concerned that all of these factors might mean that something abnormal is happening, but she assured me that this simply indicates my dates were off. In respect to my levels not doubling, she said that often my the time you can see a heartbeat, levels continue to rise but not double. As long as they are going up, she is not concerned.
I am hesitant to celebrate but cautiously optimistic that this little miracle might stay put, and happy to be rejoining the board!
