  • Drink lots of water! Sometimes you're just a little dehydrated and your body will see to the baby's needs first.

  • Having the same symptoms and i was nervous!
  • So glad to hear! I've been having mild cramps the past two or three days and was a little worried! First pregnancy and my sister had four miscarriages before finally getting pregnant...needless to say I'm worrying more than I probably should!

  • I'm having mild cramping too! Mine started a few days ago, and have been pretty consistent since then. Nothing major, but I suggest putting a heating pack or getting a massage. Those have helped me ;)
  • I'm experiencing the same thing!

  • I'd think a heating pad would be a bad idea. If we're supposed to stay out of hot tubs, I think direct heat would be bad.
Mild cramping is fine ligaments stretching, effectively growing pains.
  • I have been cramping for about a month now. And I'm only 5 weeks. Anyone know why?
  • I have been having the same thing....it feels like i'm about to get a period. driving me crazy thinking something is wrong. I was about to post about it but then i saw this.  Does anyone one know how much cramping is normal? Or if i start spotting, how much of that is normal? And is using a heating pad bad?

  • For sure! I am about 5 weeks now. It's been very mild like PMS...yesterday I had a sharp pain in my side too. It's was very mild as well as hasn't come back, thank goodness. It totally freaked me out...I won't be googling any more symptoms, it seems like anytime I do I find some horror story that scares me. I just try to remember that everyone is different. As long as the cramps aren't severe and accompanied by bleeding you should be fine.

  • I'm so happy I'm not the only one this is happening to! I have been experiencing the cramps for a couple weeks and I was worried something was wrong. I'm glad everything is ok.
  • Yes!  Exactly what all you ladies are describing.  Reading all this makes me feel a lot better!  Thank you and Congratulations all!!
  • I feel better ..... i have cramping also

  • I am also 5 weeks today, with cramps on and off for a few days. Before  I did have two miscarriages in the past two years. But my dr says everything seems normal. I'm glad to hear other ppl are going through the same thing and it is completely normal.
  • Cramping is normal right now. This is my 3rd pregnancy and I've had the same cramping every time. After doing some research, I found that we can lack potassium, big time! So I started eating bananas and potassium enriched foods and it helps. I hope this helps you and everyone else on here! :)
  • Yes, totally normal! Ir uterus is growing and your body id reacting and making room.
  • i am 5 weeks and have been cramping quite sever for a whole week.... but i have been under the impression that it is normal to cramp especially since this would be the time your body would normally have a period... i read that this is when the baby is implanting... and all your ligaments are streching... i feel like im haveing massive cramps on an off..

  • I've had mild cramping the last 4-5 days in my lower abs. My doctor told me at my last appt (before we knew we were pregnant and were still trying to conceive) that it is an early sign of pregnancy and when the baby is attaching itself and whatnot. Totally normal!

careful! heating pads can heat you up too much and harm the baby!

  • I am so grateful for all these posts! I was worried because I'm at five weeks, and I've had mild cramps for a week now, but after seeing that so many women are experiencing this I am feeling much more at ease. I find that lying down helps. Lying down with my feel elevated helps even more. Congratulations, all!
  • I am also 5 weeks and have had cramping for about 2 weeks.  I am nervous since this is my 1st pregnancy and also my doc won't see me until week 8.  I called and talked to a nurse and she said to drink water and get off my feet.  I was thinking of calling tomorrow and asking to be seen sooner.  Can the doctor do anything at 5 weeks such as test HcG levels or do an ultrasound?  By the way - I am new-  so hello and congrats to everyone!

I am feeling the same cramping and I am 5 weeks also

no bleeding so this makes me feel that the cramping is ok, just the uterus expanding.  whew

  • I havent for sure found out but im pretty sure and i been cramping a lil off n on im just to scared to take a test bc ive had bad luck in da past
  • Thank you, so much for posting this and all of the responses. I have been cramping for 2 weeks now. It is just like you said, mild period type cramping. This is my first pregnancy after trying for 10 months. I went to my OBGYN for my first visit today. I was so nervous I forgot to ask any questions. I just smiled and nodded because I was so excited that a medical professional confirmed my pregnancy. I didn't ask a single question and listened to everything he said. I suggest bringing a list of written questions if you haven't been to your 1st appointment yet.
  • Im on baby 2. I had cramping with the first one and spotting. I thought I had a miscarriage. So I went to the doc and got ultrasounds, which were normal and they said everything was fine. I wish I wouldnt have gotten those two early ultrasounds because my insurance only paid for three and I didnt get to see the baby when you can actually tell what she looked like. So this time my cramping is a lot less alarming. I wish someone would have warned me not to use up my ultrasounds too early.
