Advice about pregnancy pillows

Thinking of buying one!

At the moment, I have to prop something under my achy, sagging boobs, otherwise I'm in pain.  But, I imagine sooner or later, it will also be the belly.

The boppy looks good, but I wonder if it is hard to share the bed with one?

Advise, please, experienced May Moms!

Re: Advice about pregnancy pillows

  • I ordered a down body pillow because I wanted something I could squish in where it needs to be.  I can't wait for it to arrive!  I made some crazy blanket/pillow/cat concoction last night to get comfortable...

  • A boppy isn't really a pregnancy pillow, it's more for nursing.  I guess you could use it, but I'm not sure how it would work.  It is awesome for watching tv with though, fyi.  I have made do with a regular body pillow in the past, but MH asked if I would like an actual Snoogle this time around and I am all for it!

  • I have a snoogle from my last pregnancy and I love it! I tried body pillows and I still wasn't comfy so I broke down and bought it and was so glad I did!

  • I used a snoogle with my two older dc, I can't imagine making it though the last 10 or so weeks without it. It's so supportive and comfortable. I'm already thinking of pulling it out this time around.
  • My friend lent me her Snoogle and I absolutely adore it! I had tried using a body pillow at first and it was no where near as good as the Snoogle.  I would happily spend the money on one for my next pregnancy.

  • I bought this one when I was pregnant with my twins.

BEST idea ever.  It was pricey, but for the three weeks before I bought it (I got it at 20-ish weeks) I wasn't sleeping at all.  It propped up my belly and supported my back at the same time and I slept like a baby.  I will definitely be using it again this time.

  • Thankfully I have always been a side sleeper. I can't sleep on my stomach or back. I have used body pillows for the last 10 years and can't sleep well without one. Target sells the pillow for $10 and the cover for around that price.

I kind of hated my snoogle Embarrassed

Me too! I found it was more comfortable and easier to just put a pillow under my stomach and one between my knees while sleeping on my side. The snoogle was kind of a waste of money for me.

  • I used the Boppy pregnancy pillow and it was great.  I don't think it took up too much room in the bed.

This!  I used a body pillow & it worked just fine.  I'm already a side sleeper, so I really only needed the extra support under the belly!

  • I used a wedge pillow for under my belly toward the end. I am already a side sleeper so was pretty comfy until about 6 months. I had to sleep with my legs elevated though because I retained so much water.

  • I am trying to train myself into sleeping on my side because I am a stomach sleeper, and a body pillow is really helping.  I think it does what I would want from a pregnancy pillow without wrapping all around like the Snoogle appears to do.  I do not want to feel trapped by pillow.

  • My last pregnancy I worked at a retail store (often in the baby department) and I would just stare and stare at the pregnancy pillows wanting one.. but I'm just way to cheap and I'm still not convinced I would like them because I like to switch from side to side frequently during the night.   Does anybody have any experience with this?    It seems like switching sides with one of those monster pillows would be a disaster, pulling sheets everywhere lol

I have a Snoogle, and I place it so the U-hook shaped end is between my knees.  This way if I flip in the middle of the night, I can put the end that sticks up between my knees. So I just flip myself, not the pillow.   I also like that I can use that end to prop up my ankles, too.  That made a huge difference in hip discomfort during my 2nd pregnancy.

  • Last time I had three different pillows that I was constantly having to adjust, I also needed a pillow wedged behind my back.  It was all kind of a disaster bc we have a queen size bed and I have a big DH that likes to take his half out of the middle.  Indifferent

I'm thinking about the snoogle or boppy for this time - I really wish I had a friend who had one so I could try it out before I buy it.
