I'm a mommy!!!

Went to the hospital at 5am this morning after my water broke at home. Though I was still only 1 cm dilated I was 75effaced. Apparently only half the bag broke then LO head plugged the hole. They let me labor for a while on my own to see how I did. I knew I wanted an epi but wanted more progress first.

After 5 hours I was only at 3 cm and 100 effaced so the Dr broke the rest of the bag to get things going. The contractions were beyond painful after that and they were almost 2 min long! Needless to say I got the epidural at that time which didn't hurt at all. After that I slept off and on for a little while but could still feel contractions. The OB was worried if they turned up the meds more then I wouldn't be able to feel to push so I stuck if out.

By the time it came to push I was no longer numb at all and felt everything! I had to stop pushing when his head came because the cord was around his neck. That was hard because I was in the middle of an intense contraction and they didn't say why I needed to stop. They got the cord removed and I kept going. I pushed for 1 hr and 45 min before baby made his grand entrance. With me med free though that was not how I planned it really glad I took the Lamaze class!

He weighs 8 lbs 4.4 oz and is 21 in long. And he's so beautiful and amazing. I have a 2nd degree tear and am tired but doing well. So far feeding is going well just finished one for 40 min.
