need help with LO's first cold...

So on Tuesday i had a not-so-serious surgery to remove a pair-urethral cyst and all went well but after i went home i started getting a really bad stuffy nose and coughing up phlegm and stuff and i figured it was from the anesthesia but later that night (about 1 30 am actually) she woke up and was miserable couldn't hardly breath out of her nose and coughing like crazy... well i called her pedi and they said not to bring her in unless she gets a temp... so far no temp but i just don't know what to do, i don't have a humidifier thing but i have given her Tylenol and put baby-vicks rub on her chest and back... is there anything else i can do for her... i feel so horrible.... And i had thought well she was getting a runny nose because she IS cutting her first tooth and i thought well that could maybe be part of it but then her daddy is getting sickly to so i know it is a cold...

PS. sorry its so long!

EDD for #2 is December 8th, 2013, so excited for our 2nd team green baby!

same as above (although I don't have the snot sucker). Also, we had little one sleep in her swing for a number of nights as it kept her upright. Wasn't a perfect solution but she's over her cold now...although it's hit me now!

I've never tried it but some moms swear by putting vics on their feet and covering it with socks. Also if you bf a little breast milk on the inside of their nose is supposed to help.

My son had the same thing, was awful! Anyway the humidifer helps a ton if you can go get one, also baby ayr saline drops, you can you as much as you want through out the day and it really helps clear them up...my pedi is not a fan of the nose aspirators because he thinks its a little invasive but I did use it a couple times when I could clearly see the snot...good luck, hope you guys feel better soon!

Go buy a humidifier, or if you can't, steam up your bathroom with the shower and hang out in the steam for 10 minutes or so.

Also get a snot sucker - I have a off-brand nose frieda that I got at Whole Foods, that thing is awesome. Kinda gross to use at first but it works so much better than the bulb aspirators.  If you drop some saline drops in the nose first (little noses makes some), then its easier to suck thesnot out.

All of this. I was surprised at how much the humidifier helped.
