What's your daily routine?

Repost from 3-6 months: My LO is 3 months (next week) and I am struggling to establish a good routine. (Knowing I have to be willing to be flexible). What is your daily routine (eat, play, sleep times?).  Also, I'm having a hard time keeping her awake long enough to play after eating...she's like me eat = sleep! :)  Suggestions? Thanks!

Re: What's your daily routine?

  • The only real routine we have is to eat, bathe, and be in bed by 8ish, up at 2am for a feeding/diaper change, and then up for the day at 6.

My LO is a horrible when it comes to nap. She'll cat nap here and there sometimes.

Also, what we do usually throughout the day is dictated based on what we have going on from day to day. There's usually some playtime on her gym and some swing time but at no set time.

I guess I am happy she at least has her bedtime routine down.

  • We have no routine. I never have. I go to bed when Im tired and eat when Im hungry and so does LO. I guess Im not a routine kind of girl.

But what he has established himself is wake up really early, sleep late morning. Play until dinner, crash after dinner, play until bedtime around 10.

Once we have something like preschool where we need to be up at a certain time, we will be a little more strict about bedtimes. I see no need now.

  • Late to the party but here goes:

My daughter made her own routine, or more like I noticed cues around certain times and picked up on them and now follow them as my routine.

She wakes up around 5am to eat and for a diaper change, continues sleeping again until around 8:30ish then feeds again. Eats again around 11ish. Takes a long nap between 11-1. Eats again around 2:30. Short nap around 4. Eats again around 5:30. Eats again around 8ish and is in bed by 9 at the latest. Wakes up for a night feed between 1-3am.

  • DS usually STTN and wakes up anywhere b/n 4:00 and 6:00 for a bottle. He naps for a bit, then is usually up for the day by 7:30. After the 7:30 bottle, he's usually in a good enough mood to tolerate sitting in a travel swing in the bathroom while I get a shower. Then I give him a bath afterward since his food has usually settled enough by then. Throughout the day, he gets a bottle every 2-3 hours, so for the rest of the day I do bottle, burp, upright time in my lap or the bouncy seat (turned off b/c he spits a LOT if we get too active after the bottle), activity time about 45 mins to an hour after the bottle, then down for a nap about 90 min to 2 hours after the bottle. Activity time is our random time... We might do tummy time, hang out on a blanket on the floor with toys, fold laundry, stuff diapers, read books, play "airplane," dance around the house, or sweep with the cordless vac. When he goes down for a nap, I scramble to wash bottles and mix up enough for several feedings, eat, clean a little bit, and try to rest my back. I am so excited that he's getting big enough for an exersaucer so it will give my back and arms a little rest! :) I keep track of how many ounces he eats, so his last bottle of the day is usually b/n 7:00 and 8:30. At night our routine is change to overnight diaper (we CD), put on SwaddleMe or wearable blanket, bottle, and bed. It all goes pretty smoothly unless he gets a belly ache like last night.
