The short-story:
Aedan Andrew was 9lbs 8oz and 21 inches long born on Monday Sept 24th at 3:38pm. It was a successful 7 hour induction. Came in with minor contractions in the morning, started pitocin and OB broke my water at 1-2 cm. Got an epi after contractions started one on top of the other. Nurse checked me around 1:30pm and I was only 4cm. An hour later, I felt the need to push and had progressed to 9.5cm. Pushed for 8 minutes.

The longer-story:
OB and I agreed to an induction at 40 weeks 4 days. We had a few reasons for choosing to induce before 41 weeks (the latest he wanted me to go), but I was still nervous I was going to push something too soon. I really believed that he would come on his own over the weekend, so when he didn?t, I was very disappointed. We dropped DS off at daycare (he was clueless as to what was going on) after having a nice morning and breakfast as a family of three. It was very emotional morning knowing that DS#1 would no longer be our only little man.
Arrived at hospital a little before 8, started pitocin around 8:30. Contractions were coming about 8-10 minutes before the pitocin and weren?t very painful. They started the pitocin very low, so as contractions increased, they still didn?t hurt much. Then the OB came in around 9:45 and broke my water. This was one of the most painful things that happened all day. It took him a really long time to break it and he said mine was harder to break than normal, for whatever reason ? ugh, I was in tears by the time he finally broke it. I was only 1-2 cms (I was already 1cm at my 40 week appointment).
They needed to monitor LO after breaking my water, so as the contractions got 1-2 minutes apart and very strong, I couldn?t move around much. It made it hard to find something to relieve the pain. I knew I?d eventually get the epi ? so about 1 ? hours after he broke my water, I got the epi. It was heaven.
Nurse came to check me about 1:30pm, I had been laboring for about 5 hours and only progressed to 4cms. I felt like I?d be there all day.
About an hour later I felt a lot of pressure. I never felt the need to push with my first, so I was just confused as to what I was feeling. I just kept telling DH, I feel like I need to poop. Called the nurse in to check me, but kept telling her, I was only 4cms an hour ago ? I can?t possibly have progressed that fast. Well, it turns out, I had! I was already 9.5cms. They started prepping and called the OB.
Everyone was in the room ready to go and my OB still wasn?t there. I was just doing what I could to not start pushing. Nurses made a few jokes about catching the baby without the OB. He finally comes running in (guess there was a delay in getting him the message, his office is next door).
4 contractions/8 minutes later, I pushed out Aedan, all 9lbs 8oz of him! Lots of discussion and bets on how much he?d weigh in, since obviously he was on the bigger side. I ended up with a 2nd degree tear, but was told it?s smaller than last time. Recovery has been better this time too, so I am very happy with that!
We couldn?t be more in love. I never knew I could love two little boys so much.
