She caught her big sisters cold and was sick over Thanksgiving. So I took her into a ped in Walla Walla and she had a pretty bad ear infection. Thank God her lungs sounded good!!! So they put her on a low dose of antibiotics. I was worried at first but my Uncle is a professor at the college there and teaches nurses and doctors. He took a look at her ear and said she definately had a ear infection and needed some meds. I took her into our ped on Monday and he said that it was healing nicely and he would have put her on meds as well. Well now she is having an allergic reaction to the amoxicillan (sp?) That is the only thing that I can think of. We have not had her on anything new. No soaps, lotions or anything. Do you think she could have an allergic reaction to something I ate? I did eat peanuts yesterday. Her poor little face is all broke out, but her breathing is fine.
Re: My Poor baby!
I'd bet money it's the amoxicillin. I think you need to stop giving it to her and get her on something else. I'd call the ped's after hours number to figure out if you should stop or not. But I have a friend whose DH had the same thing happen. I don't think it's safe to keep giving it to her. THe ped can also tell you if it's OK to give her some benadryl to help with the hives.
That sucks. Poor litlte thing!
I just spoke with the after hours nurse and she told me that most likely it is the meds. She said to see the doc in the morning.
DD went through an allergic reaction to amoxicillan. It sucked. Remember the movie Hitch, when Will Smith's face was all swollen and out of sorts. That was DD, but not to that extent. DD also had red splotches all over her body.
It goes away, tylenol and benadryl help.
I hope your kiddo starts to feel better soon.
Oh no poor little thing! I hope they can switch her to something better!! Yes my pharmacy said that lots of kids have that reaction when I just picked up the same for cruz!
Hey have you talked to Amy? I still haven't seen my pics... guess using them for christmas is totally out
