Is the one hour glucose test a normal routine test for all pregnancy's? Or is it only done if doctor feels he needs it. And if it is routine.. when is it normally done? Thanks for the insight ladies!!
I think it's pretty standard. I am 19 weeks and at my appt this week was told I would have my glucose done sometime in November. I will find out at my October appt when my glucose will be. I am guessing it is done between 24-28 weeks but I could be totally off.
Yes, it normally done for everyone. I also believe it is between 24-28 weeks(at least that is when my OB does it). I will be doing it next month at my 24 week appointment.
Very normal. My doctor's office has recently switched to a new protocol though (apparently this s the new recommendation) and does a 2 hour test between weeks 24 and 26. If you fail it, that's it...you don't have to take an additional test and you are considered to have gestational diabetes.
I had GD with my first pregnancy, didn't with my second, and I'm hoping that I manage to avoid it this time too.
Yes its a normal and standard test for everyone. GD can come about with no symptoms and as long as it is known its very easy to make sure it doesn't effect the health of the baby. So they do a preliminary test everyone in most places and then do the 3 hour test on those who may be at risk.

The one hour test is standard. The three-hour test is done only if you fail the one hour.
