Babies: 9 - 12 Months

BLW ... need help

my oldest was typical, ate cereals, purees, chunky, then 'regular' food.  he ate everything then, eats everything now.

new boy ... not so typical.  for the most part, he has really shunned cereals and most purees (except the occasional fruit).  i keep trying with different items, finger foods, yogurt, etc.  once in a while he will eat banana pieces.

today i was sort of done ... we had pasta with an eggplant, tomato sauce for dinner.  so i threw a few pieces of spaghetti, and a small mashed up pieces of eggplant on the highchair and ignored him.  look over a few minutes later and it was all gone!  so i had my light bulb moment that this boy is just not into 'baby' food and just wants the 'real' stuff.

great, i have him figured out ... the hard part is that dh and i both work outside the house, and we rarely cook during the week and our nanny makes very simple meals for our older boy ...

so, what to feed this 9 month old???  please give me some ideas ...  TIA

Re: BLW ... need help

  • I make batches of pancakes/waffles and toss them In a freezer bag: Great for a quick breakfast and good for teething snacks.

Make up some chicken: That can be frozen or stuck in the fridge for a couple days.

DD gets a lot of Chicken, noodles and a veggie..Pick a day to make up the meals for the week.. Make some noodles and frozen veggies stick them in the fridge.Mashed potato's, Sweet potato fries.. Any type of bread My DD will devour. She LOVES string cheese and carrots.. I also have a few of the Graduates Pasta pick up/Mac n cheese/microwave dishes for quick dinners when I'm being lazy..Yogurt/Cheerios.. Fruits.. Its basically just a figure it out as you go thing for me.. I'm  keep my eyes open for stuff I can make in batches and freeze for a while..

Hope th is helps a little... GL

  • At 9 months old you can give him anything to eat - with the exception of honey (and we're holding off on nuts, but a lot of people don't).  I would have your nanny provide him the same thing she provides your older son, and I would encourage you to do the same!

My son has been eating almost the exact foods DH and I eat since 6 months old. The exception is when I make something with peanut butter (like when we had udon noodles with a peanut hoison sauce I just gave him his noodles with terriyaki) or something really spicy (like when we had chipotle tofu tostadas last night he had his without the chipotle).
