Is your DH back to work yet?

DH goes back Monday. I am dreading it. I am EPing right now, which is fine when there is someone else to feed Brendan, but it is going to be a PITA to have to be pumping, then feeding, then pumping, then feeding... I don't know how I am going to get anything done or go anywhere. Really wish he was home for another week...

  • DH went back when DS2 was one week old. My dad came the second week to help me with DS1 since I still had restrictions from my csection. And I've been on my own since then.
  • Yep, hubby went back a few weeks ago. He was home for a week. You find a way to do it. Maybe one of those bras that holds the pump in place? That way you can pump and feed the baby at the same time?

  • DH went back Tues after our pedi appt. We decided to split up his paternity leave with a few days here and there instead of taking it all together. When I pump, I either pump one side while feeding on the other or wnen he is passed out in a milk coma on the boppy. You will get it. GL

  • DH never really took any time off. He owns his own HVAC company and is a bit of a work-a-holic. He was home a lot more than usual for the first week to help out and to help me take DD to the pedi. But after that we have been on our own. DS is taking complete advantage of the situation and is being a total handful. I agree with the pumping bra, so you have your hands free.

  • I'm right there with you on the EP'ing. Just cut holes in a old sports bra and you have a nice cheap handsfree pumping bra. It changed my life... And looks totally ridiculous. ;
  • My husband went back two days after we got home from the hospital. My mom stayed about 4 days after that. We've been home alone since then.

    My first day was rough, but I made it a point to get out of the house And do something. That made a big difference. You'll find a rhythm that works for you and LO, GL!

  • DH was supposed to be home this week, but he went back to work on Monday.  We kind of knew that was going to happen though.  He has 11 hearings next week that he needed to prepare for.
  • Wanna trade? I'm trying to nurse a baby while taking care of two toddlers. ;

    DH went back to work on Monday and so far it's been... interesting. It was particularily fun yesterday when I had to get myself and 3 kids ready to go to DS soccer practice by myself. Should be just as fun today when I take all 3 kids to the pedi for DS1 and DD's well visit and DS2 weight check. Woo hoo!

    It's not all crazy of course... just most of the time :

  • Ditto the hands free bra, and with DD I always just did it at the same time with her on the boppy in case I needed my other hand.

  • DH went back on Monday at 3 weeks PP. He has a few more weeks of leave, but he is saving them for when I go back to extend DDs time out of daycare. It isn't terrible, but I did like having him around.

  • Mine goes back to work on Monday, after nearly a month at home. We did a trial run yesterday, with him out of the house for the whole morning. I think as long as I get out and do things, I'll be ok. I bought the rookie Mom's handbook to get ideas for things to do by myself with a new baby.

  • My SO was only home the Friday I had DS and that weekend. All of which I spent in the hospital. He also works out of town and is only home on weekends until the end of October.

  • Today is his last day off, but he works from home (thank goodness) so I'll rarely be completely alone with three children.

  • DH is going back tomorrow after 18 days off and I have already had multiple meltdowns today. We never get much time together when he is working and I am an FTM, so I am scared to death about being home by myself with her and the rambunctious puppy.

    Every time I think about him not being here, I start crying,so I'll stop now lol

  • MH goes back Tuesday. It's been great having him here to give DS lots of one-on-one time, but I am a teeny bit anxious for him to go back so I can settle into a new routine of my own with 2 kids. Right now, everyday has been different, with different visitors, etc. - it's definitely thrown DS off his nap schedule & he's been giving us a hard time sitting down to eat. So, when things settle down, I hope DS will also settle down =)

  • Those of you with other kids at home are my heroes. Luckily, my DD will keep going to full-time preschool. If I had her home with me, I think I would lose my mind. She is great, but very active and rambunctious... I am using an old sports bra with holes cut in front to hands-free pump, but I just can't seem to get the hang of doing anything else while pumping. I get all caught in the tubing and he always seems to wake up right when I am in the middle of it. I hate pumping.
