Cervical scar/ natural labor

I had my sights set on a natural birth without epi. This is my first so I am not sure what I am getting into. My doctor said cervical scar tissue is keeping me from progressing and he has tried to break it up at his office, but it hurts really bad. He keeps saying once you have the epidural I can break and you will go fast. Is there any other way they can break without the epi? I have been inserting EPO and taking orally for 4 days now. I started drinking raspberry leaf tea also. I am going to ask him on tues to try again to break it, but I think he is scared he is hurting me. At this point I just don't want someone poking needles in my back.  Anyone had their scar tissue broke or have any suggestions?

    Why is your doctor in such a rush for you to progress? 1st time moms generally go past their due date. 

    I had a biopsy on my cervix years ago and do have some scar tissue from that. I don't think it caused me problems. It is very possible you have a lot more scar tissue or a bunch of other differences I guess, but just from what you said I'm confused as to why your doctor is in such a rush and why he is so sure your scar tissue will be a problem.

    I am not sure. He keeps talking about inducing too. I am pushing to wait 2 extra weeks, he said  next week we need to decide. Dh and I have decided Oct 9th would be fine, but we are hoping he will just come on his own. I figure the doctor is planning ahead for worse case, maybe.
