Still pg: baby movement ouch!

Hey ladies, any tips on dealing with crazy uncomfy baby movement?

I am due on Sunday and this kiddo seems content to hang out as an inside baby for awhile yet. He's head down and dropped, but still manages to do full body rolls side to side. I have no idea how he even has space to do this, but it does NOT feel good. His head bashes into either my pelvic bones or the nerves down there making it painful to stand, and his butt and feet and legs press outward so hard it feels like my belly is going to split open. We're talking taking my breath away, feeling like i've been punched in the gut, ouch. I seriously wonder sometimes how he hasn't managed to tear a leak in his water with these gymnastics at his size. :P

Does anybody have any ideas on how I can get more comfortable while this is going on? He keeps it up for close to an hour when he gets going. Position changes for me? I've tried what I could think of, just wondering what may have worked for others. And is it even possible to get an inside baby to settle down and go back to sleep? He likes to wake me up with this at night! I like knowing he's happy and healthy in there, but this movement is no longer cute like it was when he was smaller and couldn't kick as hard.

  • I'd try the first pose in the miles circuit and see if that can get him settled in where he needs to be or at least out of your pelvis for a bit while he dances around. Hope he comes out soon! I know exactly how you are feeling ;)

  • I can relate, my LO is doing the same thing.  The only thing I've found that works is lying on my side.  He doesn't stop moving really, but the headbutts to the pelvis seem to ease.  That's the most uncomfortable part for me.

  • I can relate as well! 10 days overdue and baby is crushing me I think. I just try to move around and alternate which side I lay on. Or get up and stretch it out.

I also find that leaning over onto something (I use my bed because it's pretty high) helps to stretch and give baby some room to move!

GL! Hopefully not much longer for us!

  • Thanks for the suggestions!  I will try anything and everything at this point, LOL.

I have an appointment tomorrow and will have another membrane sweep...hoping this time it encourages baby to move out!
