Potty training: Pull-ups for naps or night only?

We're gearing up to stary potty training DD this weekend! I read  Super Nanny's Toddler book and we're going with her 1 week method, which means pull-ups at night only and straight to underwear because it can be confusing otherwise. So, my question is for naps should I do pull-ups? Just wondering how others made it through this...TIA!

  • I do a pull up or diaper for naps. I'm not sure it really matters for my DD either way. She'll still use the potty if she's wearing a diaper or a pull up or undies. She initiated potty training, so it's been mostly about her learning how to tell when she has to go before it's too late. She generally wakes up from her naps dry. Mornings are 50/50, but she does nurse before bed and in the morning, so I don't expect her to be dry.

  • We do pull ups for both naps and bedtime. We call them his 'nite nite diapers.'
  • I would play it by ear. Try it for the first week but if he wakes up dry, ditch the diapers.

  • DD only wears pull-ups at night. She stays dry during nap. If she wasn't dry during nap then she'd be in pull-ups for nap too.

Pull-ups are her "night time panties."

  • we do for night time and naps

  • We did diapers at night only for three days and then DD said, "Mama, I don't want you to take my diaper off."  So we ditched the diapers all together.  I think the less amount of time you can use pull-ups the less confusing it is.  If she can pee in the potty right before nap time she should be okay.

  • I would defintely agree that pull ups are just for night time.  We were using them in the car and for shopping trips at first, but I think that delayed her potty training.  We switched to underwear full time (except for bed).  For naps I ordered some cloth training pants (Bummis) and we used cloth diapers prior to potty training so it wasn't a big deal for us to purchase.  The cloth training pants are absorbent enough for any nap accidents, but probably not through the night.  To be honest my DD does 100% through the night but still has more trouble staying dry in the night.
