Got Pet Peeves?

This might be a UO but I'll probably forget by Thursday.

People drive me nuts anymore! I can't stand when people are holding my dd and she starts to cry.  The crying then turns to screaming and instead of giving her back to me, they try to stop the crying.  Just give me my baby!!

Also- I can't stand my fil's creepy interest in my breastfeeding.

What are your pet peeves when it comes to your LO???

  • Mine is when we are out somewhere or in a store and a stranger jams their head in her stroller to get a closer look. I am thinking about using the stroller bug net to make a space barrier.

  • Same thing re: crying. "You don't need mommy, you're fine! You're not even hungry." Uhm? How would you know if my kid is hungry? Just give her back to me.

Also people trying to feed her stuff, and when I tell them not to, "Oh it's just a bit on my finger! Let her have some fun!!!" and when I say she's exclusively breastfed and doesn't need anything else, "Mommy's no fun, is she?". (One relative dipped her soother in Pepsi and shoved it in her mouth when she was 6 weeks old...)

And old people who always say "That baby needs more clothes!" when she's dressed fine. DD runs warm, I am not going to put her in a snowsuit when it's 20C outside!

  • When MIL is holding my DS and he starts crying, she goes on and on about how he doesn't like her. Hello, he's a baby and he cries! He doesn't hate you. She says this all the time and it gets to me.

This! This! This! This!! My MIL did the same thing but with Diet Coke..I went from happy to furious in about 2.5 seconds!! And (mainly my in laws) keep trying to give him food!! The kid isn't even on rice strictly formula...but hey why not give him mashed potatoes...not like your going to be the one soothing him, cleaning up his puke &/or calling into work sick when it tears his stomach up...why can't people just be patient he'll be able to eat real food before you know it...why push it faster than it has to come!!!

Gross! The FIL interest in your breastfeeding creeps me out too! My in laws will be staying with us for a week next week. I'm so not looking forward to it, because I can imagine how he would be....EWWWWW!

My pet peeve is when DH holds baby for a few seconds and LO starts to fuss, and he gives him back to and says he's hungry.  My LO is EBF....And no, he's not hungry, I just fed him. DH is to lazy to get up from his chair and ease LO's fussiness. Huge Pet peeve!

This made me laugh out loud! So true..

  • I totally agree with DH handing back the baby after 2 seconds and saying when did you feed her last she's hungry! This makes me beyond irritated with him. Um hello I have been with her all day why don't you get up a see if she needs a new diaper.

My pet peeve is when complete strangers ask if my DD is a boy or a girl. She is wearing a pink dress, do you think I would dress a boy in a pink dress.

I dress my boy in pink diapers sometimes. =P

Mine is definitely about the food. EVERYONE keeps asking when Im going to give him food, when can he eat this, and theres no way he gets full off that bottle and blah blah blah. If he were hungry he wouldn't sleep 12 hours a night.

I'm also anticipating a fight with my In Lawas about sweet tea. My MIL makes sweet tie like a syrup! Its so thick with sugar it makes me sick. DH's cousin is 6 and drinks that sweet tea all the time and It bugs me. I know they're going to push it on me but my child won't be having sodas or sweet tea for a LONG long time.

  • I hate the extreme close ups too!  This weekend, dd got more fingers shoved in her hand and even (almost) was given a knuckle.... "ohhh, she wants to suck on my knuckle"  I totally pulled the "Nope, she's hungry- we gotta go card" Yes, at least I knew him, but I do not know where that knuckle has been! :)

My husband sometimes gets frustrated when he can't come Hannah down or get her to sleep. Well, sometimes you need to get up and try different things. Just rocking her in the chair ain't gonna cut it buddy. he's getting better about this though.

My in laws live on the other side of the country, so they only visited for a week when DS was 7 weeks old. MIL did that too, and it was all I could do to hold my tongue and not laugh while I was secretly thinking "yup, I taught him right."

It's not that I dislike my MIL, I respect her as DH's mother, but she just manages to get on my nerves. All the time. She's all the things that bug me about DH without being any of the things I love about DH.

  • My pet peeve is when people ask me if Im breastfeeding. My Pedi can ask me. My family can ask me. Anybody else? no-No-NO!

I was ordering a subway and the chick behind me asked me if I should be ordering all those onions and peppers. Im like- yes I should be- with the biggest pepsi you have please

Maybe its because I have major issues with being jealous of the bond that BF and Mamas get, but Im super touchy about it

  • I would be SO mad if someone gave him food or drink!

My FIL constantly talks about things I shouldn't eat - onions, peppers, chocolate...I keep telling him it's fine, but he always brings it up.

Also, every time we tell him that LO has done something (like roll over, babbling, or grabbed at something) he says something like "Oh no! Don't do that!" because he says our lives will be so much harder once he's mobile and talking. While that may be partly true, I just want to say, "Well, we DO want him to meet his milestones..." It's not that big of a deal, but it gets under my skin!

  • Within 30 seconds of arriving at my in-laws, MIL starts grabbing at my sweet baby and begging to hold him... last visit, it was: "I'll hold him while you unpack." Um, noooo, we have just driven 4 hours with him locked into the carseat.... I want to cuddle with my baby too!! She also does not give him back! For some reason, I am really possessive of him around (only) her?!
  • Last weekend we were at my in-laws' house, and DS started putting his fist in his mouth. No big deal, he's 3 months old. MIL kept pulling his fist out of his mouth and saying (in a sweet voice) "No, no Nolan" and went on to explain that he'd become a smoker if he kept needing to put something in his mouth. Gaaaaah.

My husband is constantly offering DS little bits of food, and I'm constantly having to say no. It's really f'ing aggravating.

  • Hate it when people ask me if I pinched her when she's crying. Or if they automatically assume she's hungry.

Babies aren't always hungry. Just because they cry doesn't mean they're hungry! Ugh.

Also FIL is weird about bf'ing too. I hate it. But I can't say anything to DH because he just thinks his dad is being funny. The first 10 times, yes. Now...not so much.

I dont know how to bold it...But I can totally relate to not being able to tell your DH because he thinks, he's being funny. My DH is the same way! :(

Not sure what you're talking about?

  • My pet peeve is when Alicia posts. Makes me want to pull my hair own and twist my own nipples
  • She banned Husker for a week, yes, a week, for calling someone out and expressing her opinion. It's like we aren't allowed to have strong opinions anymore here, and if we do have one, and others may not like it, it just may be banned. We may not all like others on here, and call them out, but is that a reason to ban them? I agree with Husker, and I believe that it was her freedom of speech to speak her mind. If they may not like what she has to say, they can just scroll past it.

Oh, also, if the thread may not go as liked, this certain moderator locks or deletes the thread so that no one else can share their thoughts.

    Thanks for clarifying!

  • Is it possible for any post on this board to exclude any mention of Alicia/Allison? This is ridiculous.
