Where do you put lo? (SAHM)

My LO is now constantly trying to sit up or roll over. She hasn't quite gotten there on either front but it doesn't stop her from trying. She seems to get very frustrated that she can't do either. So where do you put LO at this point? She's up so much more now.. I sometimes miss my great sleeper!! She isn't big enough to go in her jumpy thing. So she is mostly in her bouncy chair while I do things around the house. Until she gets mad enough that I take her out and play. She wants to look at everything, which is too cute. Is it too early for a bumbo seat?

  • I put ava in her jumper she loves it. We just put a textbook under her feet so she can jump from that. Shenloves it and has slowly built up to it. She tolerates 1015min at a time now

  • My LO spends a lot of time on a blanket on the floor with toys spread around him or on a play mat with toys hanging over his head.  This gives him the freedom to work on rolling, etc.
  • When I need my hands free she goes on the floor, bouncer, high chair, boppy, bumbo, swing, ergo, crib, RnP, or PnP depending on where I am in the house and what I'm doing.

  • First time around I did the bouncy seat and other various plastic things. This time I've been looking more into RIE and I just leave him on the floor on a blanket. He is much happier.

I'm not sure what RIE is, but I have been doing this with DD. With my first child, I was always trying to set him up with tons of toys and gadgets. With DD, I just put her on the floor with one or two toys and let her do her thing. She is SO much happier.

  • I was just thinking about this because LO all the sudden decides that he does not like hanging out in his swing or rnp anymore. He still likes his play gym mat though. But I haven't thought about putting him on a blanket and see how he does. Maybe he can practice his rolling in open space!
  • For us, the Bumbo works for a little while, but I never walk away from him when he's in it. When I'm trying to get stuff done he's either using the boppy, swing, jumpy turtle thing, playmat, PNP, or on a blanket on the floor with toys. Just depends, but sometimes I can tell he just wants to lay down to roll around and play.

  • DH and I just weren't into all the toys and gadgets and pushing milestones and development. We just wanted DS to learn and discover at his own pace. Most of our play time is just on a blanket on the floor. He looks at whatever he wants to, moves freely, and I usually give him 1 toy for the day. But sometimes I just give him every day objects to play with - a wash cloth, his sock, a burp cloth, etc. He's much happier that way than under a play gym or in a bouncer or rocker. I hardly ever put him in any sort of infant seats - the floor works just fine! Plus I find I can really see what he's working on without all the distractions (e.g., taking something from my hand and bringing it to his mouth, picking up his hips to start rolling back to front, etc.).
