Anyone Have An IUD Put In??

I'm getting Mirena put in on Tuesday of next week and I was super pumped...before my OB said "Make sure you take ibuprofen before hand to ease the discomfort that you'll feel when it's inserted." That makes me feel like it's gonna hurt...a lot.

Anyone have one put in?? Does it completely suck??

    I had the Paraguard put in a week ago. I forgot all about it and didn't take anything and was fine. It did cramp, but after it was inserted I didn't have any cramping. I think after experiencing labor pains, it was nothing! :)

    Also, I did bleed a good amount for about a week after. It wasn't my period, wasn't heavy, but I had to go back to wearing pads for a while...not fun.

    I had the Mirena. For me it was a lil uncomfortable but nothing crazy. But I also forgot to take the Motrin before. I felt pms cramps worse.

    It's worse if you haven't had a baby or it's been months since delivery. I had it put in twice-- 1st time was 7mPP (ish) and the other was 2m after delivery and it was much easier the second time. I'll be getting it again. It's not terrible, but they do have to open your cervix to get it in.

    I agree with this. I had it before I ever had kids and it was painful but not painful enough that I'd be scaried to get it again. I'm getting it next week too. I agree that it's nothing compared to contractions, even the lighter ones.

    I just had paragard put in this morning.  I took 600mg of advil first but it was super easy.  Felt about like a pap.  Of course I was holding a screaming baby on my chest while it was being put in so I was a little distracted... DS was not happy to be there but I had no choice but to bring him!

    I had a mirena put in before I had a baby and it hurt... like he**

     I also had one put in at 7 weeks pp... I didn't feel it at all.  Your cervix should still be a bit open so it will slide right in. good luck! I love my mirena!
