I am dying to get out of my house and I have been invited to 2 baby showers for really good friends next weekend in my hometown which is 4 hours away. Is it crazy that I want to drive down and take my 6 week old with me (trying to convince DH as we speak). We would stay with my mom and my baby is very adaptable to changing situations and will sleep anywhere. I really miss my family and friends back home and think that the trip will be fine, but DH is more reluctant. Any thoughts? Am I nuts?

Re: Road trip with 6 wk old, good idea?
I would totally go if I thought my baby would tolerate it well.
DS#1 was very easy and I took him everywhere with no hesitation. However DS#2 is very fussy, so I stay home more often.

We took Jack when he was 2.5mos old on a 10hr trip and he did awesome. Slept most of the time and even when he was awake he was content.

I would definitely go! Sometimes you just need to go back home and see your friends!!
You'll be fine. I just did a 4 hour road trip (unexpected for a funeral) with all three kids (DD is 4, DS1 is 21 months, and DS2 was 5 weeks). DS2 slept nearly the whole way, only had to stop to BF once.
Seriously, it doesn't get any easier to travel than when your LO is less than 6 months old!! Do it
