STTN????

I swear I am not trying to AW, I am genuinely concerned. DD had a very cranky day and spent most if yesterday screaming or eating. Last might she slept from 10:304:30. She didn't wake on her own at 4:30,i woke her up and feed and changed her. She ate well had a good wet dipe, and took her usual sweet time going back to sleep.

I am just paranoid that something is wrong. The doc said we could stop waking her at night to feed since she has surpassed her birth weight. She is 18 days. Would you be concerned or just thankful?

Re: STTN????

  • I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe she just needed extra sleep. DD3 has had a couple of nights now where she has slept 4+ hours in a stretch. I wouldn't expect her to do it again tomorrow, but I don't think it's anything to be concerned about,

  • My LO slept from 11 till 6 one night and it scared me! He does tend to sleep a good long stretch but that was particularly long. I usually wake him to feed if I hear him grunting like he's getting hungry. My Dr said since weight gain is good, let him sleep. Not sure if you're breast or bottle feeding, but my LC suggested I might want to get up and pump between 1 and 5am to help keep my milk supply up here in the beginning while we're still getting established, if the baby seems to be sleeping that long regularly. Enjoy that sleep! :-)
  • H has had one stretch like that. I woke her up at the six hour mark. Since then she's had another one or two six hour stretches and has woken herself up. I'm not concerned because her pedi said the same thing. I let her sleep

  • Thank your lucky stars and enjoy the sleep! This is not something to worry about.

  • Dd slept from 8:30pm-4:30am last night. I wouldn't dream of waking them up to feed them! I did have to pump after she ate and went back to sleep.

  • Thanks all. I saw 4:30 in the clock and panicked. She doesn't ever seen to wake frequently at night to eat but then horks it down during the day. Pumping overnight is a great idea., thanks again.

  • DS1 started occasionally STTN soon after surpassing his birth weight. By 6 weeks, he STTN every night. I'm really hoping DS2 has the same sleeping pattern, but I doubt I will be that lucky! Enjoy having a good sleeper!

Yep. Once is a fluke. Twice you got lucky. Three times I a pattern.

  • DD slept 5 hours her first night...she only lost 4% of her birth weight before gaining back and at 5 days old was already up to 9lb1oz (from 8lb9oz), so my dr told me not to worry about her epic sleeping. She has 2 stretches of 4-6 hours a day, with one of them happening overnight. If weight isn't a problem, just count your blessings (and sheep!).

  • It could be a growth spurt, and it could be a fluke. I would just enjoy it when it does happen!

DS started consistently giving me one 6 hr stretch each night around 2.5 months. It was like heaven, lol.

  • I wouldn't worry. She was probably just really tired! DD has done this a couple of times, and then goes right back to her usual eat/sleep schedule the next night. Enjoy what sleep she gives you!
  • DS slept like that pretty much the entire 2 weeks my parents were in town.  The day they left, he started waking every 2 hours to eat.  I say enjoy the sleep if you can get it.   I think that having my family here and passing him around all day between my mom, dad, DH, and myself wore him out pretty good.  Maybe you guys had a pretty busy day the day before or LO ate just the right amount and just the right time...   Don't worry too much about it.   I'd kill for even 2 hours of straight sleep at this point.  Stick out tongue

Edit:  Just went back and re-read your post.  Sounds like LO had a rough day and just got worn out from screaming.   I'd sleep pretty good too if I had spent the day having meltdowns.  Poor baby...
