Reading is offically Mandatory with DS!

Last night I get DS ready for bed gave him bottle changed he is READY TO GO!! Well I have DH carry him upstairs cause I'm taking clean laundry upstairs & he lays him in his crib while I put the clothes away. Well he just was not having it what so ever pitched a fit!!! So I grab him out again calm him down grab him two books read to him & 10 or 15 minutes later I lay him down (awake) & not a peep heard a little talking but lasted a few minutes & he was out calm & happy!!

So happy that my reading is having a very positive affect on him..its like he knows book=bed & if you try skipping the book its like he knows "HEY! I'm being jipped here!!"

  • That is so cute I love as they start to get little personalities and definite likes and dislikes. What books are you reading him?

My dd7 loves to read LO her bedtime book. It's such a sweet bonding experience for the two of them it gets me every time!!! She checks out baby books from the library for her.

  • That is adorable! I have been hesitant to do books at bedtime bc it seems to rile her up during the day.  Maybe I'll have to try it.

  • Awwww...I'm sure she just LOVES picking books for her!! Smile  Last night I read My Mama Monster Loves Me & How I Became A Pirate...I love reading him Dr Seuss (DH enjoys reading to him too, but when he reads I ususally try to pick the Dr Suess tongue twisters for him, he's a perfectionest & has to read it exactly how its written so its funny to watch him get all tongue tied!!!) We've been reading James & The Giant Peach but I've kinda taken a break from it..I also the Three Little Pigs (He likes it when I over dramatize the Huff & Puff part!) & also Where The Wild Things are...

I have to admit DS has a VERY impressive book collection I'm absolutely love buying him books every time I go to a thrift store or goodwill I'm always searching for books...I need to at to least slow down cause he's running out of book shelf room Indifferent

I probably started since about 5 or 6 weeks... now I don't rock him to sleep 95% of the time he's awake when he's put in his crib... its so such a wonderful way to spend time together your not distracted by the phone or tv...NOTHING!! He's got my full 100% complete attention!!! Smile

  • That is great! We have a ton of books from when dd7 was a baby. I love reading LO dd7's favorite books from when she was a baby I still read them just like I used to read them to dd7 emphasize the same words, etc, and it takes me back to memories of when she was a little baby!

  • That's awesome!  It's a great habit to get into.
