questions re: newborn photos

with LO i did a first photo through sears, at 2.5 months, so i have no experience with brand newborn photos.  for those of you who have already done them:

1) do the photogs usually provide all those cute props/outfits, or did you bring them to the shoot?

2) about how much did you pay for the session?

TIA!

Re: questions re: newborn photos

  • 1) Our photographer had all the props/hats/wraps etc. I did bring one special one to incorporate into a photo, and she asked for our preferences for colors and things, but we didn't have to worry about shopping for the session.

    2) I'm not sure what an average session costs around here. Our photographer was offering a special September casting call deal because she needed "models" for new props and techniques. We paid $400; it included the session (a solid 3 hours of shooting) and the edited images on cd (about 50 of them) with the rights so we can print them ourselves later/use them to make photo albums/etc.  (I looked up another photographer around here and to get an idea of pricing and hers was almost $1000 for digital images with the rights to them.)

  • 1. Our photographer provided everything she did ask in advance what we liked but I just sat back for 3 hours while she did all the work!

    2. We paid $200 for a session fee got a cd and then paid a good amount more for special memory books, birth annoncments and prints. We basically did our Christmas shopping for our familes. :)

All of this for us too.  She has the props, $400, CD with approx 50 images that we can print.  Ours are tomorrow, I am so excited!

  • Our photographer provided props, and she also used things that she found in our house or that I told her we would provide (example--a snare drum because H plays the drums). We provided outfits.

The sitting fee was $40 for 2 hours. The package that we ordered was $325.

Same for us. Her fee was $350 though and she came to our house.

  • Our photographer had lots of props to pick from- we went to her studio. We paid $525 for a 4 hour session. We will get 10 edited pics on disc and 25 birth announcements.

  • 135. I get a disk with all pics, edited or not. She provided the props. She also took pics of DS1 and family pics. We planned for an hour but were there for about three. She is awesome.
