Yes Matilda has been doing this for a week or two. She has started to move her legs but her arms aren't getting it yet. What often happens if she is trying to get to something like a toy is she will lean back and then sort of launch herself forward and land on her face. If she does this a few times she gets to where she wants to be. I feel like it might be bad for her to use her face like this but she gets such a determind look to her I kind of want to just heave her have at it.
But then when she gets to the toy she's like, meh whatever.
Last night she was on the mat and the jumperoo was also there but I didn't think she was that close to it, and before I could stop her she launched forward and hit her face on the jumperoo base. Blah. I already feel like a horrible parent when these things happen, I am scared of actual crawling and walking phases and all the bumps and bruises.

My LO started full on crawling last weekend. He did the rocking back and forth thing for awhile before getting the hang of it. I sware he is about to try and stand up! He crawls over to the couch and kind of grabs at it but he's not strong enough yet. He also puts his feet flat and sticks his butt in the air (like the downward dog pose). I really want him to slow down! Where did my baby go?!?
Had to make a new account but thank you for all the responses : helps to know my son is right on track and doing mostly all the things you all said your little ones are doing!
My daughter is not even close to getting up on her hands and knees yet. But, my younger son did this really early around 4 or 5 months and he started crawling at 6 months!!! I think you may have a crawler before you know it!
Maggie army crawls. Her teachers make jokes that she's going to get a rug burn on her forehead.
Same with Max. He started army crawling a week after his 4 month b-day with his head, and a few weeks later, he started full-on crawling. Not as advanced as an 8 month old would crawl but pretty darn fast! EEp...
Re: crawling
DD2 does this as well!
I can't quite remember when DD1 started doing it, but she didn't start crawling until she was around 7.5-8 months.
