So this isn't going as planned...and not that birth is something that can be predicted, but dang...can something go right!?
Last night the boyfriend and I were watching a movie on the couch and noticed it was 2 am, on the 26 th...my official due date. I hadn't shown any signs of real labor and has just mentioned that I wouldn't believe I was even in labor unless my water broke...thinking I would be preg for forever : Seriously two mins later, I felt a large gush...mine you, we were also watching "the business of being born"...I was convinced it was discharge, although had no increased discharge my whole preg. We then went to bed more excited than ever that we chose to go the natural route and felt prepared...we could do this!
Had another gush in the middle of the night, again blew it off but was extremely uncomfortable...morning I think I had one more, threw on a panty liner and headed out the door to run errands. Checked the liner at breakfast and the "discharge" was green/brown/ yellow..I was thinking mucous plug?! Water keep gushing..than goodness our server had a jumbo pad who carry those in their purse?! Lol and called the doc.
So this is being super long, called doc, was sent to ld turns out was my water, got here about 3, had meconium in it and thing have been down hill from there. Was given two options, pit since only dilated a 1 or csection..choose pit, regained convenience that cld still go natural, no pain meds, but since monitored witg a bunch a cords and attachments, couldn't move like I needed to. So epi was administered when was 3 cm and 90 effaced ..that went horrible, with a drop in heart rate and blood pressure...was stabilized and now I wait...I'm extremely tired...what an emotional rollercoaster...praying this doesn't end in a csection
Re: So this isnt going as planned...
Ask for oxygen and see if that helps stabilize the baby. Also, ask the doctor what position the child is in and if he/she has desecended at all. The position of the child is what caused me, after being in a somewhat similar situation to yourself, to end up with a c-section.
Also remember, the plan is to have a healthy child and for you to be healthy.
Good luck today.... I know I was there right where you are last Friday, and now I am up with the healthiest child you can imagine.
Good luck with everything! I totally understand being disappointed to have things not go as planned, but just keep in mind that a healthy baby and mom are the most important thing! Sometimes I think doing what's necessary at the expense of your "plan" takes a lot more strength and courage than delivering natural or having it all go how you wanted!
