I need help y'all. Anybody here have advice about picking a health insurance plan? I don't get insurance through work, so I am just going to get it for myself. I am always sick and or hurt so I really need insurance.
I just don't know if it would be better for me to pay a higher monthly premium but get a low deductible, or should i be more worried about the out of pocket max?
I know I need surgery on my feet and I already go to the doctor at least twice and month and pay out of pocket.
Any help? Anyone?

Re: Health insurance help
There was a pretty good health insurance thread going on TTGP board yesterday.

For DH and I when we were choosing between insurance plans offered by his work (a little different), we looked at whether we would be able to pay the deductible all at once if necessary. Most of the plans with deductibles would really throw us if something happened. We also looked to see what was covered for prenatal care and L&D. We ended up going with a higher monthly premium because in the end our total costs would be much less and we get the coverage I'll need if/when I need hip surgery (a potential that has been hanging over my head for years).

We found an insurance agent in our area to help us with this decision. He is awesome! We have Blue Cross&Blue Shield and have been very happy with every aspect of our insurance. It makes sense for us to have a higher deductible since we aren't usually sick. We take our tax refund and save it for our out-of-pocket expenses for the year.
Also, the sooner you get insurance, the better. Some policies, like mine, will only cover pre-existing conditions after a 6 month waiting period. GL!!
