Babies: 3 - 6 Months

5 month check-up and a rolling over?

DD weighed in at 15.2lbs and is 27in long.  She is still not rolling over.  While on her back she can roll to her side but that's about it.  Forget going tummy to back, she doesn't even attempt it when she is on her tummy and she really doesn't enjoy being on her tummy.  When we told the Dr. that she doesn't roll yet, he wasn't concerned per say, says some kids skip milestones or do them in a different "order" as I believe she may sit before she rolls..haha.  But he did say we need to ramp up tummy time so she does start rolling.

I know every kid is different, but when did your LO start rolling over - tummy to back?  back to tummy?

Thanks!

Jessica

  • DD started rolling belly to back (to end tummy time) at about 3.5 months. She rolled back to belly about 2 months later.

  • Dd rolled from back to tummy at 3.5 months but doesn't yet roll tummy to back
  • DD rolled from back to tummy a little before 3 months, but just recently started doing it a lot.. and she just rolled from tummy to back for the first time today.. she is 3.5 months.

  • DD has only rolled belly to back once and that was 3 weeks ago.  She is very close to rolling back to belly her arm just gets in the way.  She is 5 months today.  No check up but hopefully she will be rolling by her 6 month appointment.
  • My LO is rolling both ways, but she only does it once in a blue moon. She really hates tummy time, so I don't push it on her a lot. I probably should, but she throws a fit after a few minutes.

  • My 5 month old doesn't roll but does sit. He has rolled tummy to back 5 times starting right around 3 months but I don't think it was on purpose. He hasn't lately at all.

I am a little concerned but know he is fine because of his sitting and other stuff, I just wish he wanted to roll. We've been doing a lot more tummy time to encourage it. I also roll him so he knows what it feels like
