Movement still really low

So I'm 21w 4d today and have been feeling movement for a couple of weeks now.  At this point, I have only very rarely felt anything above my bikini line or anything higher my hips.

Of course this has me worried that my placenta is low-lying and they didn't diagnose it at the a/s or that something else is wrong.  Are there any S+TM's that can tell me it's normal to still be feeling movement so low all the time?  Will it eventually get higher?

Re: Movement still really low

  • I'm still feeling baby very low also. Rarely ever higher that my hip bones. DS was also low all the time. He did get higher as i got further along though. I always heard other pregnant ladies complaining about their babies kicking them in the ribs all the time but i hardly ever felt ds in my ribs. He usually stayed around my belly button or a bit above that.

So I'm thinking either this one is another boy or i just carry my babies low.

  • Mine is super low as well!  Although I'm not as far along as the OP.  With ds he was high up in my ribs, it actually hurt sometimes!

  • I have an anterior placenta with this pregnancy and there is a drastic difference in the amount of movement I feel. I asked the ultrasound tech if it was anterior and she confirmed it was, but I don't know if they would have told me otherwise as they don't perceive it as a medical concern. Hence you might have an anterior placenta and they didn't mention it. If it was low lying or fears of placenta previa they would have mentioned it (or should have) as i know that is one of the first things that they do check for. In terms of location, with my past pregnancies it bounced all over the place. It will definitely get higher.

  • This is normal. I've had the same experience this time around (21 wks). Went for my ultrasound yesterday and the baby is breech (head up) which explains why the kicks are so low since he's feet down.
  • Your uterus is still around your belly button.  So I think what your feeling is normal. I am 21 weeks tomorrow, and still feeling very low movements.

They did tell me that I have an anterior placenta but I did not know that it would affect where I feel movements.  I thought that since having an AP means its in the front of my uterus....does that correlate to movement felt lower?

  • The movement I feel is also really low. I have bi-weekly ultrasounds including one yesterday and there was no concern about where baby is. It's all good. Smile

  • I'm low as well.  I had my a/s last Thursday and they said everything is good.  So I'm not going to worry.  I have felt him kick/punch me a little higher up but only twice.  The ultrasound tech was laughing at him and commented that he moves around a lot, but likes to stay low.  She said pretty soon he'll be forced to use up all of the space! lol

  • Since this is my first pregnancy I can't say whether or not it's normal or not but I was also told I have an anterior placenta, and I have so far only felt movement low down as well. I find movement is more noticeable when I slouch. At the u/s my LO was lying transverse across the bottom of my belly so that could be part of it too. I'm confident that once it starts to get more crowded in there I'll start feeling movement in more places.

  • I have an anterior placenta and have only really been feeling kicks low as well. Had my a/s yesterday and all is good and normal.. With DS I felt kicks all over the place and did not have an anterior placenta so I'm thinking that it does have something to do with it,
