Placenta previa and exercise

Hi ladies. I was diagnosed with placenta previa yesterday at almost 16 weeks. My doctor didn't say if it was complete, partial, etc, but the placenta is directly under the baby in the US photos. I haven't bled at all, and know I have an excellent chance of it migrating out of the way as I grow. I still want to be cautious, and honestly my doctor is leaving the practice to pursue something else. I'm afraid he may be burned out, and was never overly cautious anyway. I know who I'm seeing next visit and will talk to her about it, too. After I called him, he told me no sex, but exercising was okay.

Has anyone monitored exercise with PP at 16 weeks? I walk/run 3 miles a day 5 to 6 times a week, and wondering if I should alter. Thank you!

Re: Placenta previa and exercise

  • I had placenta previa at 16 weeks, too, but not when I gave birth, the placenta moved. Anyway, I still exercised as normal. If I were you I would call the doctor's office and ask the nurses anyway, just to be safe.

  • Thanks. I actually went back today and they scanned me. They said it's now considered low lying, so that's good! He just said pelvic rest so I'm going to continue to walk/run, but take it easy. Thanks for replying!
