RPL results Pt. 1

I have all of our RPL results, but it turns out we will be doing just a bit more testing so here's part 1:

Almost everything came back normal, except for three things:

1. I am just barely in the range for pre-diabetes. I'm confused how a 31 year old healthy weight exerciser finds herself in that range, but whatever. I am.
2. AMH came back fine at 2.65 but estrodial (65) and FSH (8) seemed a little higher than she expects for a 31 year old, despite being within the lab's normal range.
3. HSG showed open tubes but possible septum or arcuate (heart shaped) uterus. Of course, the results are inconclusive so I get to have an MRI for diagnosis and if it is septate, then I assume surgery. At this point, they think it is more likely arcuate.

So, next steps are to meet with a nutritionist to get dietary advice and hopefully manage to keep my blood sugar range below the pre-diabetes level. I go for the MRI in two weeks and results should be pretty much immediate. MH is also going to do an SA when he's ready.

In the meantime, I'm in the 2ww but no more hopeful about it than I've been any of the past few months. Looks like you ladies are stuck with me for a while longer while we wait for all the info before we can make a plan. Party!!!

Thanks Petra! In all honesty, my gut left me wondering whether I should go ahead with MRI or instead request a hysteroscopy. I guess I figure if there is septum, then I would need the surgery anyways so why not diagnose and potentially correct all at once. I think I'll follow up with my RE again and ask why MRI vs hysteroscopy.

I can't remember how your initial arcuate diagnosis was determined. Was it your HSG? SHG?

Well, despite not exactly liking your news, it sounds like you might be closer to getting answers, and that is always a good thing. It sounds like you have a plan and sometimes in this awful TTCAL world, a plan is all us ladies can bank on. That sucks that you HSG was inconclusive. It's such a bummer to go through all of that and then still not get any answers.

I am so glad that you are getting some answers and are able to move forward/ make a plan. I know that made me feel worlds better, even when the news was not great. I agree with Petra about the hysteroscopy - I am so glad my RE recommended one instead of an HSG because I would have needed both in the end.

I will continue to stalk you and send T&Ps for a great plan and hopefully a BFP soon! ((hugs))

I can't remember how your initial arcuate diagnosis was determined. Was it your HSG? SHG?

I was cleared via HSG. The SHG (SIS) showed an arcuate ute and some scar tissue. They did the hysteroscopy to remove the scar tissue and that camera showed that the arcuate up was actually a wide shallow septum that covered the fundus and stretched from tube opening to tube opening.

Thanks again. They didn't recommend the SHG for me, which surprised me. I'm definitely going to call and double check they really think the MRI is the best way to go. They told me scar tissue would have showed up in the HSG and that raised a red flag for me too.

Hi BBM! Great to "see" you and those handsome boys. Are you getting lots of cuddle time? The last update I read sounded like they were making great progress already.

I appreciate your T&Ps so much and your seconding Petra's experience and advice about the hysteroscopy.

My initial RE went on maternity leave after ordering all these tests so I'm working with a fill in RE right now, and I'm just not 100% comfortable.

I'll add to the *hugs* and love! <3

For me, my Septum was diagnosed with an SHG (or SIS) same as Petra.  My RE opted for that over an HSG because I'd already been pregnant twice, so she figured my tubes were ok, and just wanted to look at the ute.

I also had a Hysteroscopy to remove it, and while they were there, they also found a fibroid and "products of conception" -- the latter of which was almost entirely blocking one of my tubes.

I'm not sure why your doctor is recommending an MRI over other options, but if you're not entirely comfortable with that plan of action, I'd definitely say something.

    Good luck!! <3

Thanks, Req E. I totally expected to be sent for an SHG instead of an HSG, because of previous pregnancies too. Although, one of mine was in an unknown location and may have been ectopic, so the HSG made sense too.

Thanks to your encouragement and that of others, I wrote to my RE and let her know that I've been thinking about the MRI and am not quite sure that I fully understand the reasoning for that over some other diagnostic method. I also told her my fear of having the MRI only to need the hysteroscopy too. We'll see what she says.

Thanks and good luck to you too!

Big hugs love.  Glad you have a plan.

Sorry about the diabetes.  Maybe you can ask your family and see who if anyone has it.

Thanks. St. L. I'm hoping to have a more comprehensive plan soon after we finish the rest of this testing. I definitely do have diabetes in my family on my mom's side. All of those people were diagnosed when they were twice my age, so I think that's what surprised me about this pre-diabetes that I have. At least, with this warning, I know that I'm more at risk than I ever thought.
