burping?

My LO has a easier time burping now days. After nursing, I can pick him up and he burps on his own. He still spits up if he doesn't burp, but I read somewhere that babies 3months + no longer needs to be burped because they can burp on their own. My LO still needs help burping. I'm just wondering what others are doing? Are you still burping LO?

Re: burping?

  • Sometimes she needs burped still, but other times she's fine. It's hit or miss right now.

But it supposedly supposed to get better with age.

  • I still burp DD. If she doesn't burp after a minute or so of patting her back I'll just set her in her bouncy seat so she's elevated. After a few minutes, I'll pick her up and she'll burp....or spit up everywhere : )

  • I only burp her when she is fussing or when DH gives her a bottle. Otherwise, she doesn't burp at all nor spits up (finally). She burps during tummy time now.

  • DS needs to be held upright after every feeding until he has burped or spit up. We've gotten lazy and just hold him facing out until he spits up on the floor. Thankfully we have no carpets...wiping up the floor is so much easier than changing clothes.

  • We're having a much easier time with burping since he's sitting up so much better.  He burps on his own most of the time and spit ups have decreased.

  • I only burp him at the end of the bottle or if he is being really messy while drinking [I've noticed that usually means he has to burp].

He burps on his own sometimes too.

  • I usually burp DS when I give him a bottle. He still needs help burping but it a lot easier now. A few stairs does the trick!
When I nurse DS I try to burp still but he usually doesn't so I'm assuming he doesn't need to. He doesn't spit up too often.
  • I usually just sit DS up and he lets a huge burp out on his own. if it doesn't happen right away, I will try, but not for very long. tummy time always causes burps!
  • I usually burp her on the potty ( we practice EC).
