I have a 17 month old and we purchased an expensive set for her - crib, dresser, tall dresser totaling about $3K. Granted she will use the furniture for some time - can easily get a white twin bed when ready for that and crib turns into toddler bed.
With the second I don't want to spend nearly as much as if we have a 3rd, 2 will have to share a room which will require a reconfiguration of the room, furniture, space etc.
I thought I would find "cheaper" costing furniture at Babies R US and was surprised the set I like totaled $2,300! I really want my budget under $1700 - any suggestions where to look? Can't just be cheap though must be quality too.
Re: Affordable nursery furniture brands/stores?
You can find a dresser for even cheaper than that, I'm sure. Check Craigslist and the like. There is tons of inspiration out there, on Pinterest, cheap chic nursery, etc... Good luck!

This. And it's cute and contemporary. I was really happy to find a Euro style crib so cheap!
I am looking at a Bassett crib and dressers at Buy Buy Baby, however the dresser draws are very small and I'm not sure this will be practical as the baby gets older. It seems to be made well. Bassett doesn't sell their baby furniture in their own stores, but sells in BBB and Target. The Target lines might be cheaper.
I am also on the look out for a nice dresser from Craigs list or cosignment shops and have found a person locally (through a google search) who will refinish/paint it. This might be a good option for you. He also told me that much of the baby furniture, including Bellini is not made well.
If you are a member of BJ's,they have baby furniture on their website, which i think you can still order for a small fee if you are not a member. From what I remember w/#1, it was much cheaper than Babies R Us.
