TTC after 35

I'm happy ... really.

So, my husband and I closed on our house today!  We are very happy.  But it was a little bittersweet at the walk-through, when we were trying to figure out what to do with our 2 non-master bedrooms.  My husband thought that we should use my favorite room for the nursery.  I was thinking how sad I will be if my favorite room ends up being a guest room forever.

This whole process stinks. At least I know you ladies can sympathize.  We've had a nice run of good luck on the board; I hope it continues!

Re: I'm happy ... really.

  • Congrats!!  Enjoy the house and try not to think about the nursery. Hard I know..

I gave up a year ago on the nursery and painted it grey.  We bought the house in July 2010 and didn't paint it at first since I knew I'd want it a specific color.... when that didn't happen, it was like the room was taunting me month after month. I finally said screw it and we had it painted.

  • I know how you feel.  My favorite room upstairs in our new house is standing empty with a dresser that I and my siblings had as babies.  I freaked out when someone asked if they could sleep in there with an air mattress when we had lots of guests one day.

  • Try to enjoy the happiness of your new home today.  Worry about what to do with that room some other time.

  • Congrats!!! I've been working so hard on our new house in the last week. We closed on it the day before my FET and it's also been hard thinking about what to do with the rooms if we don't end up having success. But, it's been a welcome distraction with all that happened this past weekend. I have moments where the house feels empty. But most of all it just feels good to have HOME. Best of luck to you. Any projects you have planned in the short term?

  • Thanks, ladies!  I knew you all would understand.  I hope that we all get to plan our nurseries soon!

Emikat -- we don't have any projects to start on immediately.  We are going to get a refrigerator, grill, and lawn mower this weekend, and that's it for now.  Oh, and doors for the bathrooms -- the previous owner was disabled, so the doors were all removed.  That should be our number one priority!  We plan to do a major project each year, as finances allow.  I think the first thing will be to get rid of the 1970s bathrooms.

As much as I would love to forget about trying, as I approach month 21 of TTC, 3 rounds of Clomid (two with trigger shots) & 4 IUIs, I'm not sure that's going to be the key for me.

That is a sweet story about your parents, though.

  • Congratulations on your new home!

I did the same thing, sort of, we renovated our condo last year and the only room I didn't redo was the current "man cave" which I am saving to paint a beautiful mural on the wall eventually...(I hope)...for now it is just a dirty room of Grateful Dead memorabilia.
