For the preggos...How are you preparing your LO?

How are you preparing your lil one for the new lil one? Or, if you've already done this, what did you do?

Lil Man is going to be 18 months when Baby Man comes.

Thanks!!!

  • Not much since Olivia is only 18 months now.  We talk about baby sister in my tummy but I know she doesn't understand that a new baby will be here full time in Nov.

I did buy a special doll, using an old Vera Bradley purse and making it her dipaer bag, and I am making cloth diapers for her doll also blankets, a carrier and burp cloths.  Any thing I need for a our baby I will try to copy for Olivia and her doll.  So she will have a baby to take care of when I am taking care of our new LO.   We will give all of these to her when she meets her new sister.  I did this with DD1 when DD2 was born and it worked out great.

I got a few books from the library for toddlers about a new baby but she just keeps saying baby baby.

Pretty much all this. DS loves "da baby" doll that he has, and lays his head on my stomach, but that's pretty much it. He's not real interested.

  • we aren't really doing much - we talk about baby a lot and ask him where 'mommy's baby' is?? and he will rub and sometimes smack my stomach but other than that - he's oblivious!

  • DS#2 will be here one month from day (DS#1 will be 18 months).  We talk about him all the time, but I know he really doesn't understand what this even means.  We hang out in DS#2's room a lot and talk about his baby brother, but I know he has no idea really so it will be interesting to see what happens when he arrives ;)

  • LOL! We ask Lil Man where the baby is also, and he will point to my tummy and kiss it when I tell him. But that's really all we've done...

  • Oh, how I wish I had more time!

I tried talking to DD about babies and all that, but at 15 months it obviously didn't make an impact.

Her first reaction to DS was to burst into tears and try to physically yank him out of my arms. :/

She's gotten better. Not great, but better.

Time will be your best friend.
