Trouble TTC

Monitoring question

I went in for my u/s appt. today and the RE saw an 11.7 follie on my right ovary and an 11.7 follie on my left ovary. I have to go back on Wednesday to see which one grows. For the past three months the largest follie has been on my left side and my left tube is closed.... I was just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation.  I am on my fourth medicated cycle and have scheduled a second lap procedure for November. My obgyn preformed a lap in March but I am hoping the RE will be able to clear my left tube in November. If he's not able to clear it would it be wise to ask him to remove it?

Re: Monitoring question

  • I've got tubal issues and my dominate follie is on the other side. I had a lap and bc my blocked tube shows no signs of further damaging my ute or future pregnancies AND is blocked all the way through it was not removed. I think it just all depends on the type of blockage and the effect on future fertility issues. JMHO.

  • I also have a blocked L tube. I have only had one IUI, but like you my L ovary was dominant---2 large follies right away. My RE said basically, we just keep going until you have a mature follie on the right side and then we trigger. I ended up with 1 at 19.5mm, so I triggered (the L ones were like 22 and 23 at that point, but of no use to me). I am not spottnig, so I think this was a BFN, but they did have me stay on meds until the right caught up.

I should also mention that my RE skipped right to injections (gonal-F) b/c he said it would stimualate both sides as apposed to clomid, which only stimulates where your body was naturally going to ovulate on it's own. It just makes it stronger.

I had a hysteroscopy before all this started to try to unblck and they couldn't, but they never mentioned removing it. I think if there is no harm to you with it being there, I would probably opt for less surgery.

I think we will try one more IUI and then try to move to IVF (if we can figure $ out).

I am new to all of this, but wanted to share my experience with you. I would love to keep in touch. This blocked tube thing is difficult. You don't hear of alot of people that have a blockage :(

  • Thanks for sharing... It is nice to hear from others that are in a similar situation. I go to my RE tomorrow morning for another u/s and am hoping that my R side has produced a larger follie than the L! The past three months I felt cramping on my left side prior to my u/s.  This month I haven't had any cramping so I don't know if that means anything.... Fingers crossed!!!
