Insurance Stress

The only thing that is holding us back right now is the stress of insurance. We are both covered under our parents somehow (he is on his last year of college now) even though we are married, but my coverage will end December 1st. I can then get coverage through my work but do not plan on remaining employment there through the pregnancy and their insurance is EXTREMELY expensive. Anyone have suggestions?

Re: Insurance Stress

  • HIRSP is one of the only ones that I have found that covers pregnancy AFTER 6 MONTHS. I've had c-section with all of my children (other than the one we adopted!) and at nearly $18,000 a piece, the cost of insurance is justified. It's not cheap but if you are planning on starting a family and looking for a plan that covers YOU- look into it. It is a per-person plan so it would only cover you but you could buy coverage for your baby.

  • You could try and see if you qualify for Badger Care. They accept pregnant woman up to 300% above the poverty line.
