I gained about 45 pounds during my pregnancy. I am 12 PP and I have lost about 10 pounds. I have read enough posts about women dropping 25-30 pounds 6 PP, so my question is how did you do it? I've been walking and I did a week of P90X (my body was NOT ready for such an intense work out). I'm also breast feeding and I heard from other moms that it helps with losing the weight.

Whats the best way to work on the stomach flab?
i only gained a total of 24lbs during the pregnancy, within 2 weeks it was all gone. so all the weight i gained was pure baby, water, blood volume, and other products produced due to pregnancy.
very lucky in my opinion. one of my aunts gained 80lbs with her son years ago.
i have just been watching what i eat, making sure it is nutritious, and not to sugary, or fatty(in the bad way) since good fat is great for milk production.
my issue isn't the lbs, its the 'shape' of my body. my upper belly is fine, great in fact, but the lower belly hangs and droops as if i had been morbidly obese and lost a ton of weight, and the skin is left hanging down.
I lost all the weight (25 lbs) by 2 wks pp, it was mostly water weight and the stuff that wasn't, well I guess bf'ing helped with it? I wasn't expecting it, was kind of shocked really. I think every body is different - they way the body gains and loses weight from person to person is unique. I also walk 2-3 miles per day and take public transportation, no sitting in cars to get places.
I eat more now than when I was pregnant (and I thought that was a lot!) and I have only gained 1-2 lbs since the initial dropoff after baby. And I blame that on the oatmeal cookies i eat to keep up my milk supply
Do you have a gym membership? I've been meaning to get back into my yoga and pilates classes. Start with evening walks around the neighborhood with baby, and get back in the gym. Good luck!

I was very overweight when I got pregnant, gained 12 pounds during the pregnancy, and lost 36 pounds during the first six weeks after giving birth. I think it was a combination of breastfeeding and lack of eating because I didn't have time to eat because all I was doing was breastfeeding. I definitely haven't lost any more weight and I think I've gained some back. I don't want to really attempt to diet while nursing, but I do think exercise would be good...just need to find the time for it.
I would be patient with your weight loss, though. It took nine months to put on that weight, and it might take that long to take it off. Slow and steady are the keys to lasting weight loss.

I gained 22. I hung to about 5 until about 12 weeks. I started working out with a trainer again at 8 weeks and it just came off.
I EBF, but according to my Dr., breastfeeding =/= weight loss. Mainly because you have to take in more calories to produce enough breastmilk. You have to bear in mind that it took you 9 months to gain that weight and it's not going to come off overnight. You should be careful with workouts like P90x because if you are not accustomed to that level of exercise, you can tank your supply. You need to gradually work up to it. It also has a lot to do with the type of food you eat, not just the amount of calories you take in. I follow the clean diet and eat mostly paleo foods - absolutely no processed junk or empty calories.
This! I just stopped nursing (huge stash in the freezer) and am already seeing a few pounds drop off. Couldn't lose a single one while nursing. I was too hungry ALL THE TIME. And when I tried to diet while nursing, I got really, really cranky.
I was up 7lbs at 6 weeks and back to prepreg weight and size (clothing) by the time I went back to work at 3 months. I think the biggest thing is I only gained the recommended amt. I think the key to getting in shape is not gaining too much.
That being said, I walked A LOT. I was bored at home on leave and walking kept lo sleeping so I walked about 4x a week about 3-3.5 miles each I also exclusively breastfed on demand. I did Insanity for a week but gave up do to baby?s knack for going crazy at that time. I ate without concern for calories or anything (however, I never drink my calories so I only drink water, seltzer, and black coffee).
Every woman and every pregnancy is different though. Don't stress about it too much. My doctor said: it takes 9 months to put it on so you should give yourself 9 to take it off.
